Hello everyone,

I'm new to the world of IT, trying to obtain my CompTIA a+ cert, and am taking lessons to study for the test. I had a question about the practice quizzes I'm taking. The question was if you run a cable test on a T-568a and it fails which wire is most likely the cause. Now the lesson tells me that it would most likely be the Green/White wire but it doesn't give me a reason I was wondering if anyone could clarify why that would be the case.

Assumption would be that a cable is a crossover cable instead of a straight through configuration? Maybe. Basically, the difference between T-568a and T-568b.

Though there would also be other wires in different places.

And to add that most network devices are now smart enough to handle either internally.

Comptia A+ Essentials ~2008
Comptia A+ Benchtop Technician ~2008
Comptia A+ Core 1 220-1001/220-1002 2020

Might have some others, those are the only ones I can recall off hand.
