I just got a t3500 from work last week and got some ram sticks and a hdd for it, and its all fully put together now, but when i power it up i get these beep codes and status light

1 long beep
3 normal beeps
waits 1 sec
2 normal beeps

diagnostic light

1 = solid green
2 = off
3 = off
4 = off

It leads to no display at all, i am using a displayport to hdmi cable, and tried both ports.

specs:
dell precision t3500

cpu: xeon 5600 series
ram: KINGSTON 8GB 2x4GB DDR3 PC3 10600R 1333MHz 240pin ECC
gpu: ATI FireMV V2260
hdd: wd 1tb
psu: as it comes

any ideas why no display???

the beep code is:
1-3-2 =1st 64 K RAM test in progress or failure

diagnostic light:
1- Solid 2- Off 3- Off 4- Off | MEM |Memory |Memory subsystem configuration activity is in progress. No memory modules were detected.

possible ram incompatibility or ram??

Yes the error code is related to ram.

It be related to a faulty memory module, so you should if there are a few memory sticks fitted to the Dell.
Try each one at a time in one memory slot of the motherboard.
Making sure each is fitted right in the memory slot and flush.

Test each one with a power up of the system till you have checked all of them.
It can relate to a damaged memory slot on the board if all memory sticks are detected one at a time in a set same slot.

Read off the information also on the sticker of each memory stick to verify all are running at the same speed and have the same latency timing values, and all are Ecc rated.

You cannot mix memory types of ECC with buffered or Unbuffered memory modules or you will get a memory test error from the bios.

Make sure if all of the memory is ECC rated that the ECC option in the bios is set to enabled.
Or again you will get a memory error message from the bios.

If you added any hardware at all to the system, or changed the Pci-e graphics card.
Check that the Extra four or eight pin 12v ATX power block from the PSU is connected to the motherboard.

Double check the manual for the server board on the locations and population order of memory sticks for it, based on how many memory sticks you have also.

As positioning a memory module in the wrong memory slot can also result in a memory read error message from the bios.

thanks for your reply.

yer i figured it was.

I bought KINGSTON 8GB 2x4GB DDR3 PC3 10600R 1333MHz 240pin ECC from :
http://

it fits the compatibility on: http://

I tested each memory stick by its own in every dimm and get the beep code, and even without the memory i get the beep code.

Is this a mobo issue or return the ram??

And nope no extra hardware added, GPU was in it from work from whomever last had it.
