Talking to Router

Did some remodeling and now I can no longer access my router configuration management via my laptop. Internet works fine to all household devices. I can successfully ping 192.168.0.1 through laptop command panel.

The router was hardwired to an old PC, but I have always accessed it remotely from my laptop. Now, that PC has been eliminated. Could that be relevant?

I have a wireless Ubee hooked-up to Brighthouse DSL. It is currently on a shelf 9 feet up . . . and I am 5 feet tall. So, I am first trying to solve this without a ladder.

To access your router's configuration utility you need to use a wired connection to it, not wireless, and for that reason it's always advisable to keep at least one PC or laptop wired to it at all times if possible, or at least have the router easily accessible at all times so you can connect ethernet cable to it when necessary for making configuration changes to the router.

Wireless access to the router config utility is possible of course, but not recommended because if you change any wireless-related settings on it you could immediately lose the connection, and then what do you do?
