Task manager / Programs won't open or close

Hi,

Occasionally I try to open Task manager or a new application/program, the cursor shows it loading and then nothing happens. If I try to close a program it normally stops responding, and if I try to shutdown the PC it just stops on "shutting down", The only solution is to hit reset button on my case, which isn't ideal. I have a 1TB Seagate SSHD drive on windows 8.1 .

So this just happens randomly? It will work for a time and then stop? Sounds like somethings unstable, done any overclocking recently? Might also be something with the os, google microsoft fix it and from there look if you can find your problem.

Havn't overclocked, just built and kept as received. It happens randomly, hard to say when. My friend had a similar problem and it turned out it was his hard drive failing, could this be the case? It is only around 3 months old, I have around 250gb remaining of the 1tb total.

Go to computer - select harddrive propertys - tools - then defrag it and do the disk check there selct both and schedeul a disk scan. Then restart the pc and before booting windows it will check the harddisk and try to fix it. After this then like i said search for a winfix
