Hi,

I am going to buy the CPU and Mobo mentioned in the title, just wondering before I do, will the TDP be ok? Been seeing alot about TDP as i read through the Gigabyte guide on the Motherboard forums (not that i really get it). I am a novice in all of this and as such, don't particularly understand it xD

Thanks!

What are the rest of your specs?

No compatibility issues. See - http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=4957

Note :
The i7 4771 is locked CPU (no overclockability) and it would be better paired it with cheaper H97 chipset motherboard (no OCability), unless you planning to SLI.
H97 vs Z97.
Also, i would recommend you to buy the cheaper Xeon e3 1231/41 CPUs, they are basically i7 4770/4771 without integrated graphics.
One more note, i7 4770/4771 are old series CPU, however more expensive than newer i7 4790, which also operates at higher clocks.

Hi, thanks for the reply!
I wont be overclocking anyway as i have no idea how it works. As far as SLI goes, doubt i will be pairing as i only plan on playing WoW on this PC which doesnt require much!
So far all i have purchased is:
NZXT 410 Phantom
Nvidia Geforce 660 (Out of my old PC)
I have an older CPU in that PC which I dont know what ill do with (i7 3770 Quad Core 3.40GHz)
Ram which I have bought is 8GB 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM (Kit of 2) HyperX Fury Black Series
PSU i was thinking the Corsair 700w (Just heard its good)
I have the Corsair H80i CPU Cooling unit
Havent sorted a Hard Drive yet!
Also, which H97 mobo would you suggest?

Thanks again :)

Well, you won't see any noticeable improvement with any i7 4xxx or Xeon CPUs, over your old CPU.
i7 3770 is more than capable for any kind of high-end gaming, including WoW. I would not recommend you to upgrade your CPU.

Modern games rely more on GPU.

Corsair 7XXw PSUs are definitely not good (except great HXi 750w), mediocre at best.

See - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html .

Also, 550w quality tier 1/2 unit will be enough for your system.

Your wise upgrade might be a new GPU. GTX 970 / 980 or AMD R9 390 , in case you plan to play demanding games.

Ah this changes everything then! Maybe I will just purchase a new Mobo to match th 1155 socket of my current CPU? Would you happen to know of any? Gigabyte Z77 D3H I have seen. Cant seem to find many motherboards with this socket. Think Gigabyte have a "Sniper" series which fits. Intel® H61 Express Chipset (Intel® BD82H61 PCH) Is my current Mobo in this desktop.

I currently have the X51 and it suffers from overheating, hence wanting to upgrade to a bigger case. The 330w PSU that comes with is also insufficient I think!

I should add, i dont really intend to play any other games xD Just looking to transfer from one case to another now you've told me about the CPU but i may as well buy another Mobo as my current one is tiny, think id like to upscale to ATX.

Thanks :)
