Have a "tested working" galaxian board here that I bought. Plugged it in
and it squealed like a stuck pig. Took the board out and noticed the
daugterboard was plugged in backwards. Plugged it in the correct way, and
it still squealed. What gets fried when the daughterboard is in backwards?

Assuming you're talking about the rom daughterboard!

Otherwise, if it's one of the two smaller daughterboards that can
sometime be found on galaxians (even originals) then replace "all the
roms" with "all the chips on the daughtercard!"

Since you say it squeals like a pig, i'm assuming you MAY be referring
to a small daughterboard that sits in place of three small logic chips
in the upper right corner of the board if the edge connector is on your
right. They handle stuff like sounds on and things, so can also make it
squeel if sounds can't be switched off 'cause that boards gone and they
get randomly triggered.

Martin.

All the roms.

Why all the question marks?

Not sure what i'm going on about?

I can dig out a photo of the daughtercard in question if you like?
Genuine Namco part, replaces three logic chips (i forget which), which
what must have been either expensive or in short supply parts at the
time.

I've seen a few boards with them on, and it's in the section of the
board that deals with switching sound on and off (without the
schematics to hand, could tell you where exactly). Just saying, if that
little board (1.5" sqaure maybe?) is on there, then maybe that
daughterboard's been plugged in the wrong way round.

That'd make it squeel :O)
