Hey all..

I had a joust which had a bad monitor. The original was a WG19K7901.
I had a spare 19K7601 laying around and put this into the Joust cab. I
also did a cap kit on this monitor. Now I can't get the picture to
stabilize..It rools Vertically...Adjusting the VHOLD slows it don but
it never fully stops .Is there a sync difference in these two
monitors?

On the old monitor it was wired like this

> Purple/Red
> Purple/Green
> Purple/Blue
> Black
> Purple/White
> Solid Purple

All on one connector...when I hooked the 7601 up to this connector I
got a lot of roll...so i figured the sync must be different...I stole
the connector that went with the 7601 and hooked it up as shown..

>Purple/Red
>Purple/Green
>Purple/Blue
The rest were Blank

Then on the seperate three pin connector I hooked..
>Purple White
>BLANK
>SOLID PURPLE

Is this right or did I mix something up? I really wanna play Joust but
it is difficult hen the picture is rolling...

Thanks in advance
Josh

you have no ground wire

the black one

but i believe you have the sync wire not hooked up right.

dosent seem right to have a blank in the middle, usually blank is first
then -Vert, and last -Hort.

I was under the impression that all 7000 series chassis were
interchangable , no muss no fuss . I am in the process of building up
a cab and was planning on doing something similar . Any thoughts on
this ?

You need to apply ground to either pin 4 of the 6 pin connector or pin 1 of
the 3 pin connector.

The is also a trace on the cpu board to cut to change the sync from neg to
pos of pos to neg. I believe this has to be done when you change the
monitor.

There is an excellent William's game site online but I'm on someone elses
computer and I don't have the link for it. The site tells you everything you
need to know about William's games. There is a lettle tidbit of info there
about the trace cut. Once you cut the trace your picture will sync perfect.

Try blank, purple/white, purple (on the separate 3 pin connector), and if
that doesn't work, leave the same connection and tie the 2 purples together.
Otherwise you will have to do the sync modification and the original 6 pin
configuration should work.

Joust is working I used the old connector ( the 6 pinner) and hooked it
up as it was original in the cabinent...adjusted the V hold and the H
hold and it works beautifully...I guess i should left the wiring alone
to begin with :)

Thanks for everyone's replies

Good going. Sync problems can be a pain in the ass when working in a cabinet
on an awkward angel with not a lot of space, trying to move the pins around
for the different combinations. It would be nice if there would be one
connection and a dip switch bank for the various syncs.
