Hi,

Since the last few months, several temp folders with "MSI" prefix are getting created on their own on my C: drive. Some of the folders have the following names:

MSI2baaa.tmp
MSI2baad.tmp
......
.....
MSI8ffc2.tmp
MSI599c0.tmp

and so on.

All these folders are empty. Currently, there are 14 such folders. About a week back, there were around 10. Their creation dates range between September to December 2015.

My system configuration is as under:

AMD Athlon II X3 440 Processor on MSI 880GMA-E45 motherboard with 2X2 GB Kingston DDR3 RAM

OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.

Can somebody let me know the purpose of these folders and what do I need to do to stop their creation? Thanks!

Thanks for the response. Well, I've been using this MSI mobo for over 5 years now and I haven't activated any live updates for the mobo or installed any add-on mobo software in the last few years.. So why are these temp folders getting created now, that is within the last few months?

So what would you suggest I do? I have run Malware on the C: drive with no success. These temp folders continue to get created.
