so i decided to check the temperatures of my components the other day using HWmonitor and it showed that my motherboard (Asus Z97-k) was 115c? at first i thought it was just the program so i tried other programs but it was showing up at the same temp and it wasn't rising/dropping. I shut the computer down for a good 12 hours that night turnt it on the next morning, i then checked the temp and it was still 115c after being off for 12 hours... help would be appreciated.

Usually those monitors simply read the information the BIOS hands out but switch on again and go to BIOS to see whether that's the real figure. You're around a hundred degrees short of the melting point of modern lead-free solder but your CPU is at serious risk if that figure is correct.

If BIOS confirms that figure of 115°C, switch off immediately and post back here.

BIOS is outside of Windows and cannot be affected by a Windows failure. The very first screen you see briefly before Windows start to load should offer you a key to hit to go into BIOS. If it goes by too fast to read, try Delete or Function 2. Many BIOS systems respond to one or the other.
