Hey everyone. I am currently helping my brother build a gaming computer. He seems to think his ram isn't going to show up till next week. I was hoping to help him build his computer this weekend. My question is can I temporarily take the ram from one of my other existing working computers and put it in his to load the bios and windows? Then once his ram arrives from amazon can I simply just swap the sticks while the computer is off without changing anything? Or are their other affecting variables at play by doing so?

I am not the most familiar with memory or how it works all I know is it is required for the computer to post. Just want to make sure I don’t mess anything up by temporarily swapping ram sticks between computers.

On last question. So technically I would only need one stick to boot his computer correct? I currently use my other gaming computer as a streaming device for games through steam and online video which has 2x4gb=8gb total, so in the meantime while he is waiting for his ram to arrive I could pull one of the two four gb sticks in my system and still keep it operational as long as I pull the one 4gb stick from the second slot?
