It's not hard to confuse e-mail and newsgroups, and you did say that you
were "testing mail aftermajor probs." In future, you can use the special
'test' newsgroups that have been setup so people can check their ability to
post. For example:
news://microsoft.test

Mail uses one type of server and news uses another, so
testing one does not test the other.
