[SOLVED] Testing a PSU with the Tool for the 24 pin power plug however its from a different manufacter

So if I tested a PSU that I bought off Facebook and the kid said it works but I found out the psu was too big for the case. So I had to buy a new one From Seasonic. It came with the tester and I used it on a low-end Thermaltake TR2 and the fan worked, however, When I connected it to the EVGA 850G Supernova 80+gold no fan spinning. Is it because of the tool? Or because of a large amount of modular wires or is it possible dead? I don't want to be screwed over. Luckily it's local however not sure about facebook return rules. I hadn't tried to power it up until today due to some other stuff I needed. Thanks

All those testers do is short the power on to a ground wire, so they should work with ANY power supply.

Check to see if your model has a "no fan" mode or something. A lot of power supplies don't turn the fan on until it gets warm enough.

You need an actual load on the PSU to make the fan spin, I use a 12V heater I scrapped from a car and some 5V light bulbs

How do you connect those to psu? It's like the video I saw were he connected a small fan uses a molex connector. I have no idea how to do that. Any help?

It does have some sort of eco mode or something. So should I just let sit there until it gets hot?

"Eco Mode" is what EVGA calls their no fan mode. According to their literature, if the PSU is in this mode, the fan doesn't spin up until the PSU reaches 55C.

You have to apply a significant load to get the PSU to heat up.
