DVD-lab-PRO is out, downloaded the demo (works 30 days
http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/dvdlabpro.html )
late last night, and today did some tests on it.
Good stuff, and since I am Linux oriented, that should
be seen as a compliment!
I took the files for a DVD project I did in the past in
Linux, so I knew these files were OK.
One small DVD, with 6 audio tracks, 2 of it mp2 stereo,
and the rest ac3 5 channel.
One movie and several points in it to access via the menu.

This program makes it very easy to add buttons, I
went through the 'quick guide' (or something like that),
and then added the subtitle channel.
I could only import .ssa files, and in that, I got
a comma at the start of each line...
This is not difficult to fix, (edit out the extra comma
in all lines), but in ssa itself these files show up in the correct way...
For the rest, exactly in sync...
I am not sure about subtitle anti aliasing, and I still have to
figure out why it would not accept my .sub file (with bitmap references).
A bit more specific error reports, or some example files that do work,
would help.
Maybe look at that later.
..srt is also supported.
For a 199 $ not at all bad!
It solves the old 'how to make a nice dvd with menus' problem, does great
checking if you did not make a 'trap' button (one that if you select it in
the DVD player goes nowhere and you are stuck), presents a nice diagram of
the relations between buttons menus etc...
This may well be the only tool for windows for that price that can do full
DVD spec!
So I am happy with it, would make a nice Christmas present for sure 🙂

Further testing with the DVD-Lab PRo demo shows the following;
I cannot burn an image, it keeps askeing to select a drive, but you can't.

So I made an image with mkisofs in Linux (from the audio_ts /
video_ts structure).
Then burned in Linux (as usual) with dvd+rwtools.
That works great on Cyberhome Ch-DVD 405
It does not play AT ALL on Mustek 562 (that has played anything in the last
3 years).
It chokes on the disk, sees it is a dvd, and then goes black.
(Note that > 100 DVDs have been made and burned in Linux with dvdauthor and
these tools, they all play on these players, so that is not the problem).

The Skip funtion in DVD Lab Pro still shows a flash of the start what needed
to be skipped.

So, I have nice DVD with menu from it that now only play on Cyberhome....
