Note that he did not even use XP64 (XP x64 Edition) in his tests, he used 32 bit XP. If he tested with XP x64, it would have beaten those newer ones even harder!

XP x64 is the holy grail of OSs right now as far as I'm concerned. It profits from its upper members (Vista, S2008 and 7), and it's supported because its long lasting support is required for the numerous Server 2003 x64 businesses owning a contract. So it takes the benefit from ALL the best work MS has done and is incorporating, it takes the 2003 ports for all hardware and software. In fact, Windows XP x64 Edition has improved so much in performance tests I did over the years that I will not need a different OS for a long damn time.

I most certainly agree with you love....let's also not forget that WinXP x64 is so rock-stable, and well made, that it didn't even need an SP3 update.

I wish more people would run tests on both WinXP and WinXP x64 in order to obtain the most accurate results. I dare anyone to compare WinXP x64 with Vista Ultimate x64 in an honest test and post the results without modification.

But again, we are digressing from the real subject of this article, for which I apologize.
