[SOLVED] TF2 fps is very low for my build

Specs:

i5 2400

asrock extreme z77

16gb ddr3

gtx 1080 ( was going to just put in my old gtx 650 but Im still trying to figure out why it wont work in this desktop while it works in my newer one.)



Hey guys, so recently I turned my old desktop into a linux pc, and I decided to try out tf2 on it. Start it up, I get 300 fps in the menus. Play a game and the fps goes down to 60 and sometimes even dips into the 50s and 40s. It can go as high as 130 . Is this normal? I am very new to linux so I don't know if its something to do with my OS or what. Anyways, thanks guys and gals!

You forgot to mention the make and model of your PSU as well as it's age. You also didn't mention which drivers you're on for your GPU. Last I checked, support for gaming while on Linux is limited.

Oh sorry, its a EVGA 600 watt 80 plus bronze psu. I guess its a couple of years old? But I used it on my other build (AMD ryzen 1600x with the gtx 1080) and it worked fine. I am using version 390 drivers.
