test Vizio's 8" tablet. I have that and the kindle fire. the Vizio's screen seems to have a more limited viewing angle than Fire's and at times not as snappy as the Fire, but the touch screen is very responsive. I can't find the cpu specs for the vizio in or on the box that it came in. but for $190 it's not a bad little device for web surfing, videos, and can be used at a TV remote, which is pretty cool.

oh, 1 other thing to note, is that the Fire's WiFi range is better than my Vizio's. I noticed that as I walked around my house that I lost more bars and connection at shorter distances that I did on my Fire. I'm using a N300 router btw.

I was planning on getting the Kindle Touch on Black Friday since it was on sale at Staples. The lady in front of me bought the last one. I decided to go with a Kindle Fire and have absolutely no regrets. I love it! My intentions were to use it as just a beefed up e-reader but now I find myself using apps like Netflix, Words with Friends and Pandora on a daily basis. Netflix looks amazing! However, I have only used another tablet (iPad) once ^_^ so my expectations are likely lower than other people.

I picked up 2 of these, 1 for each of my kids, for Xmas. They are young, but I am sure they will love it. One of them is at the reading age, so I am hoping that he will really dig the kids' e-books, and will hopefully get more and more in to it as an e-reader as time goes on. Also, love the "free app a day" that Amazon does. Just got Serious Sam's new app for them yesterday for free (have to check on the kid-friendliness of that one) and will continue to watch for good ones so they have plenty to check out on the big day. In regards to performance, it does seem to lag a bit, and I haven't even really played any of the games. I downloaded Comixology and a few free comics and love how you interface with that.

Well.... no more so than a unibody macbook pro. If you know what you're doing and can find the spare battery, it should be easy... If you're talking about hot swap like the Toshiba Thrive, then the answer is no.

I LOVE MY KINDLE FIRE. Have had it for a year, and have gone through a few different cords to charge battery, but just charged via usb just fine. I love it love it love it.
