Pick the one that provides the performance you want for the money you can afford and buy it.

Ummmm...just what will you be doing after college? I assume your college is already paid for (parents maybe?). I don't know anyone that graduated college and had 2 cars (new) and a 2000+ ft home paid for in only 5 years after college. Don't get me wrong, I hope you get what you want. But I wouldn't get my hopes too high.

I'm still paying on my college loans, I've never bought a new car yet, and I live in an appartment. I'm almost done with my Masters, and even after that- I STILL don't think I'll have 2 new cars and a 2000' home paid off.

My parents are paying for a little of my college (about 5-10%), the rest is from scholarships. The cars i bought myself from my lovely jobs and i have enough currently for the down payment on a 2000 square foot home in my area (which are selling for about 215,000-220,000). 5 years is probably exaggeration, i'd like it, but i probably won't get it. After all, i'll be honeymooning in Hawaii after college (hopefully) with my darling amy, and the wedding itself is a huge chunk of change. Plus to furnish a house can cost more than the down payment (eek!).

After college, btw, i'll probably work for Intel :)

Nah, i'll just be making things to tell the machines how to melt rocks :). Eventually, techs will be replaced, the machines do most of the work already (i'm not speaking for intel or the industry, that's just my personal opinion of the near future).

Intel. Maybe I'll see you there then. I'll be applying there. Whether I land the job remains to be seen. I would most likely be doing verification work. Guess we will see!

Anyway, congrats on achieving such financial strength! Perhaps you are more frugal (spelling?) then I. Although, I must say, I don't spend freely. But, I don't invest [yet] either because I can't afford to lose.

Who knows, maybe you and I will share adjacent cubicles!

Well, i doubt i'll see you, he he :smile: . Even if you do end up at the oregon site (which is where i am), if you're doing verification, u'll probably land over at Jones farm. I would like to do that, but my 4 year internship restricts me to manufacturing (or as a cs, programming stuffs to support manufacturing). But let me know if and when and where u get a job :). Thanks for the luck with marriage, but u're right, i won't need it. I just need luck for the time UNTIL marriage, he he :wink: .

Guess my old athlon classic should be impressive as well. It's been up for over a year. Only re-boot's i've had to do is after software installations that required it. It has been rock solid the whole time.
 
Actually, my Thesis advisor mentioned Portland, OR...

Still, I'll be applying all over, so the chances are slim. But, if I work for Intel, it will be either in Austin, or Portland.

If you do work in Portland, try for Jones Farm or Ronler Acres (or possibly Hawthorne farms). Just a suggestion :) Especially Ronler :)
