I am looking to upgrade just one of computer parts to improve my gaming experience as my computer is starting to get a little slow when I'm trying to play games. And am wondering what is the best part I can upgrade to improve my computers speed.

Windows 7 64bit
EVO AM3 AMD 870 6Gb
GeForce GTX 460 SE
AMD Phenom II X6 2.8 GHz Socket AM3 Six-score
4GB DDR3

I'd agree with that to a certain extent - platform differences like tri/quad channel memory architecture and >16 PCI-E lanes separated the LGA1366 and LGA2011 i7s from the rest. But what differentiates is i7 is actually hyperthreading. And, more importantly (for a gaming build anyway), price. You're paying a lot more for a 3770 than you would for a 3450 or even 3570K, with barely any benefit for gaming performance. That was what I was asking anyway, if you meant 3770 - 3870 isn't a real processor.
