The best CPU Cooler for i7-4790k

Hi,

I have recently bought a core i7-4790k for my system upgrade and i'll be gaming mostly.

Will the stock cooler do the job or i'll need a cpu cooler.

Is Liquid cooling better or air cooling. i am not planning for overclocking but might do to some extent in near future. For the moment i'll just be gaming(like serious gaming).

I have heard that Liquid cooling is less reliable and they leak too. I seriously would never want to damage any of my components at any cost. Also my new setup would be for a long run and won't be upgrading soon. I want a reliable and good performing cooler.

I will go for a Liquid cooling option if they are really worth it and without any risk.

The brands that i'll prefer and are available to me are CoolerMaster, Deepcool(online shopping), Corsair and Noctua NH-C12P SE14(online shopping). I can get cooler masters and corsair in my area retailers but the there are many options of deepcool air coolers online and they too seem pretty good too. For Noctua the Noctua NH-C12P SE14 is only available to me online.

I HAVE A COOLER MASTER CM 690 II BASIC CASE. SO A DUAL RADIATOR MIGHT BE A PROBLEM

The available Air Coolers are:
1)Cooler Master Hyper 212X
2)Noctua NH-C12P SE14

3)Deepcool Neptwin Cooler

4)Deepcool Frostwin

5)Deepcool Assassin

Recommend a Corsair Air Cooler if they are good

And For the liquid coolers
1)Cooler Master Seidon 120 V plus
2)Corsair H55 Quiet/ H50/H60/H75/H80/H80i/H90/H110(Almost All are Available)
ONLY IF A DUAL RADIATOR LIQUIDCOOLER IS RECOMMENDED I'LL UPGRADE TO A CM 690 III

I would buy a h100 or a h80i because there are really good and keep yout cpu cool even if you overclock it, so i would recommend getting a liquid cooler. I personally dont like air cooling because its not as effective and the good air coolers are really big. So i always try to get liquid coolers , and for the i7 stick with the h80i or even a h100 depending on your budget

Are they safe? Why do they fail actually? like leak sometimes.

I will just be gaming. I have read people complaints and they are really scary and heartbreaking. The liquid leaks onto the Graphics Card in almost every cases and damages the motherboard too and i have a got a new Zotac's gtx 970 amp extreme edition last month for my upgrade and going to buy a msi z97 gaming 5 or asus maximus VII ranger and they are a big deal. i cannot afford to lose my card and motherboard. i'll rather die instead.

Even if go for the liquid cooling wont the H60/H75 do my job? I've scanned too many forums and other stuffs online and concluded that liquid cooling options are for enthusiasts and for extreme overclockers.

Aren't there some safe liquid cooling technologies. There are different types of liquid cooling right? like closed loop and other things i actually don't know too much about it.

They rarely leak, usually a pump failure is more common. A good aicooler does the same or outperforms liquid coolers (Noctual NDH 15). Otherwise, just look at benchmarks. The Noctua you listed is meant for compact builds, where the height of the cooler is important. I had the H100i. It was good, but for giving 2x as much as for a good aircooler, not THAT amazing. Also, the i7 4790k does NOT need a liquid cooler. It's currently the most effective i7 (performance to heat output) at the moment. So, I'd get a good air cooler.
