I've actually been considering doing this kind of stuff with 360s as a small source of income when I head off to college next year. Anybody think there's a big enough market to justify it?

"Curiously, the new warranty is five days short of a full year."

I will take the three year warranty and the "loud" console. You can't hear it while you are playing anyways... so what does it matter if it is loud...

360's are not loud. your mid range computer with 4-5 high speed 80 mm fans... now thats loud. now i know quiet pc's are becoming all the rage(rightfully so) but this is silly.

Nobody uses high speed 80mm fans anymore though ... everybody's moved on to 120mm low speed ones, or pwm controlled 120mm fans.

[citation][nom]The_Blood_Raven[/nom]These cases have been out for a year, but is a great idea. Problem is that you void the warranty by using it I believe.[/citation]

Did you not read the article? Of course it voids the warranty.

There's a market for this but only for the Elite. The whole point of the arcade is that it's cheap. The person who buys an arcade system is going for price, hence a system that's double the price is pointless.

Still modding the 360 is pretty cool. I still remember being in awe of the guy who basically made a laptop version of his 360. That's the kind of modding I would go for.

when i play the 360 i can find it a bit loud,,,but only when i'm sitting 4 feet from it,,,sit further away from it or move it further away from the tv,,,a new hdmi cable is less than $50,,, a whole lot cheaper than doing this,,the controllers don't need to "see" the unit to work.

[citation][nom]pocketdrummer[/nom]That's all gravy........ until microsoft thinks you've modded your Xbox with a chip and bans you from Live.[/citation]

Is there chassis intrusion circuitry in the 360? I had always thought they scrapped that idea, even though it's been rumored since the first generation Xbox. I know many people who have opened and shut, or just plain opened and left open their 360 cases and haven't had a problem. What would make Xbox Live ever think the chassis was any different?

what about the environment friendly developers developing their computers to heat up a hot water tub?

This idea looks just like that! A bath tub with the xbox interiors.

nope, i've taken mine apart. fixed hardware issue and not it works great. the only thing is they have this sticker that you have to remove which voids your warrantee, but even that can be worked around, see google / youtube on how to remove sticker without damaging it... :->

Is it that hard a choice? Or take the 120gb elite with 3 years warranty, or take the ugly, huge, 0gb arcade system with the oddly stupid 360 days warranty. The answer is so stupid i dont dare to say it.
