As of lately, my computer starts up and hangs on startup while it waits for COM+ to timeout. I get the following three Service Control Manager errors:
* The COM+ Event System service hung on starting.
* The Automatic Updates service hung on starting.
* The System Event Notification service depends on the COM+ Event System service which failed to start because of the following error: After starting, the service hung in a start-pending state.
I've already searched google and MS KB, but havnt found anything that helps. Ran SFC /scannow, rebooted and no change. RPC and COM+ services are set to automatic startup.
The computer doesn't shutdown anymore and hangs on "executing d:\winnt\system32\cryptnet.dll" (I have verbose shutdown messages enabled). My guess is that the COM+ problem is tied into this...I did a search on google for "repair cryptnet.dll" and found lots of referances to IE repair, so I ran it. No effect.
Did a little experiment. If I shutdown the computer before a user has logged on, the computer will shutdown just fine (and I never see the "executing d:\winnt\system32\cryptnet.dll" in the status window). Also tried creating a new admin profile and tried shutting down...same problem again.
Anyone have a idea how to fix? I've already tried reinstalling SP3.
