I have £225 budget for CPU and motherboard. Looking at what’s currently available I see the Intel i5 8400s priced at about £160 and the ASUS PRIME H310M-K MicroATX at £60. Would you say that this a good combination or should I allow more for the MB and less for the GPU? It will be used for non gaming.
I intend using 8GB ram and a Samsung SSD and no graphics card

Is the budget just for the CPU and motherboard? Do you already have the RAM, PSU, Case and graphics card.

Do you intend to use onboard graphics?

You have chosen a good base, if you can stretch teh budget then I would recommend another 8GB of RAM. If you can't then can you get 2x4GB rather than 1x8GB.

I have a budget of £500 in total. Just over £100 for the SSD and about £85 for 8 GB of ram. Intend using onboard graphics. That said, I have an older card from a previous setup gf210 which was ok. Was thinking that the CPU graphic would be superior.
Using existing case and 500w PS.

Thanks for the replies so far
