the current bios setting do not fully support

I just built a new computer and when I first load it up it tells me that the bios settings do not fully support the boot. I have no idea what's wrong. Also my power supply isn't long enough to use the same wire for the optical drive and hard drive and I was wondering where I can get an extension cord.

My build is:
Motherboard: Asus P8z77-V LK
CPU: intel i5-3570 3.4 ghz LGA 1155
Power supply: 500W
GPU: Nvidia GTX 670
Hard drive: 3.5"
Optical drive: Asus 24x DVD-RW Serial-ATA Internal OEM Optical Drive
RAM: Kingston Technology HyperX 8 GB (2x4 GB Modules) 1600 MHz DDR3 Dual Channel Kit
Case: NZXT Guardian 921 RB ATX Mid Tower Case

make sure the mb bios is up to date and then put it to factory default to make sure you have it set right to boot. on the newer efi bios and windows 8 there secure boot and efi only boot. default setting will be secure boot off and boot from both efi and non efi devices. also on the sata ports make sure the drives are on the intel and not the asmedia sata ports.

I fixed it but I still need an extension cord for the power supply sata cable

frosty to get you running if you have a usb stick (4g or larger) use the microsoft iso to usb tool to load windows onto your hard drive. then when you can get the extention cable you can connect your cd-rom drive.

When I start up my computer it says Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key. What does that mean?

that there no windows files on the hard drive yet. you have to go into the bios and set the usb stick to as your first boot device and then install windows. after windows is done installing you be able to boot from the hard drive.

See the thing is that I put power in my hard drive but not my optical drive so should I switch them?

I see two icons for my flash drive. One has a UEFI on it the other one doesn't. What's the difference between the UEFI and the regular one.

the newer motherboard have two bios now efi (one with the pretty photos) and the older bios.
the usb sticks and ssd put the non efi one first on the first bios page.

put usb stick as first boot device and the hard drive as the second for now. when the cd-rom power cable comes in set the cd-rom as first and the hard drive as second.

The thing is my windows 7 is a 1 time download. So I don't wanna download it with the flash drive then when I get the extension I won't be able to download it again. Does it transfer everything?

the downlaod is an iso image you can put it on as many disk you want. also digital rivers is a microsoft site that has there iso to download if you need to just rember to keep the oem key for the os. the download is an image file that you have to put on a disk or usb stick to install on a new pc.

On this picture I cant even get this far. Where it says "Boot Option Priorities". I can only scroll down to Secure Boot. I cant go down any farther. I'm not sure why I cant select the boot option #1. I cant scroll down any farther. I don't understand. On my picture you will notice the scroll bar on the right and it has more room to go down. But I cant. I'm not sure why I cant select my boot options. I need help!

Have you tried going along with the secure boot? There might be something wrong with the computer parts itself. Maybe something isn't plugged in. If you started your own thread you'd probably get the answers you need. I don't know if any of that helped.
