The drivers for 2 unknowns and SM Bus controller did not install after a fresh install of Windows 10.

I just installed windows 10 on my Latitude E6440 but the device drivers for 2 unknowns and SM Bus controller did not install....

I installed the Intel Chipset Device Software from E6440's product page and restarted, but the errors are still there...

Did I do the right thing by installing the chipset device software ? Do I need it ? or should I uninstall it ?

Also, please help me get rid of the above errors...

do you have latest BIOS?

try running this and see if anything newer - https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html

The first device listed (ACPI\VEN_SMO&DEV_8810) is the "ST Microelectronics Motion Sensor Driver". Unless you are still running a spinning drive this one can be ignored. However, you can refer HERE for more information.

The second device listed (\VEN_DELL&DEV_ABCE) is the "Dell Airplane Mode Switch Driver". This one can be safely ignored. However, you can look HERE for more information.

The third one (VEN_8086&DEV_8C22&SUBSYS_05BD1028&REV_04) is part of the Intel Chipset Drivers that can be obtained from Intel.

The other two unknown drivers were resolved("ST Microelectronics Motion Sensor Driver" and "Dell Airplane Mode Switch Driver" ) ....

but the SM bus controller does not get resolved...I installed the chipset driver from here ... but no luck .... what should I try next ?

Also note that I swapped my laptop's CPU with an i7-4800MQ ...

Get the chipset drivers directly from Intel NOT from Dell.

I downloaded and tried to install this driver directly from intel, but I get the following error:

0x00004e24 this platform is not supported.

I am using a Latitude E6440 with a Mobile Intel QM87 Express chipset .... As shown here.

Then you need to download the correct installer for that chipset. Intel has a readme file for each download that lists the supported chipsets.

That is not the chipset driver though ... that's the USB host controller...

ok, I figured it out....i had to install the older chipset driver...
