[citation][nom]fstrthnu[/nom]Are there any estimates on how improved the battery life will be for the notebook processors? I'm still trying to decide whether to get a Sandy Bridge notebook now or wait for Ivy Bridge here. [/citation]

Well the power usage is the biggest advantage in Ivy compared to Sandy... So if you are looking for notebook, and are not in hurry, Ivy is better. If you are looking for desktop prosessor, Sandy is just fine, until we know how much those Ivys' are going to cost. In the beginning, too much compared the older Sandy, but in notebook the better battery life would become handy. But we have to remember, that the screen and hdd eats more power than CPU, so the difference is not too big. Some prosents?

What I hope that Ivy notebooks does not run so hot as Sandy, so it would allso make them more silent.

The next speed upgrade will be Hasvel. Many people says that Ivy will be better in overclocking, but that has to be seen. They need less power, and run calmer, but It is not garanteed that they can achieve much faster clocks. That remains to be seen.

Is it just me or am I note seem much of any real performance increases from Intel's lineup??

I have an old Intel X9770 @ 4Ghz (rock solid reliable) and a 1600 DDR2 setup and it's still pretty much holding it's own on every benchmark I throw at it compared to the latest and greatest Intel offerings? So what's the deal Intel? How about producing CPU's that can run at stock clocks of 5Ghz?

I don't want more cores, 4 is more than enough for anything I toss at it, I don't want slower 6 or 8 core CPUs, give my faster 2 or 4 core CPU. Is Intel just dead in the water or what?

I was definitely hoping for a 6 core part too. Still, the 20% drop in TDP is awesome. SB OC's really well, so I'm excited to see what speeds are attainable on IB.
