[citation][nom]fstrthnu[/nom]Are there any estimates on how improved the battery life will be for the notebook processors? I'm still trying to decide whether to get a Sandy Bridge notebook now or wait for Ivy Bridge here. [/citation]
Well the power usage is the biggest advantage in Ivy compared to Sandy... So if you are looking for notebook, and are not in hurry, Ivy is better. If you are looking for desktop prosessor, Sandy is just fine, until we know how much those Ivys' are going to cost. In the beginning, too much compared the older Sandy, but in notebook the better battery life would become handy. But we have to remember, that the screen and hdd eats more power than CPU, so the difference is not too big. Some prosents?
What I hope that Ivy notebooks does not run so hot as Sandy, so it would allso make them more silent.
The next speed upgrade will be Hasvel. Many people says that Ivy will be better in overclocking, but that has to be seen. They need less power, and run calmer, but It is not garanteed that they can achieve much faster clocks. That remains to be seen.
