I've had everything from 386DX (various speeds) 486DX (various speeds) P95, almost all 5x86's Athlon I 500 550 Athlon 1ghz (first in my store) Athlon (almost all Socket A/939 speeds). Athlon x2's (almost all speeds) Phenom I (top black model) Phenom II (top black model). A6/8/10 (various speeds for son's and entertainment center and wife's computer). FX (top model).

Now, I am STILL using for my main personal and alt PC's I'm using Xeon in x58 chipset (same as i7 970 extreme to a point) overclocked. Ryzen may just get me to upgrade myself back to AMD and get rid of these going on 8 year old MB's and CPU's. (running RX480's)
 
I don't get why you said "eternal underdog". I mean sure, Acer were a bit behind in their development but I'm sure their products are getting increasingly mature and should
surpass other competitors in no time!
