This whole 'The last of us' and not enough vram and all the other issues the game is having at the moment. I have a pretty mid tier system, (ryzen 5700X, 3060 ti 8gb, 16gb RAM,) and have been running it with Nvidia's optimized settings on ultra, on a 1080p, 165Hz monitor and have not had one single issue.....So why are people having so many issues when they have much better specs including gpu's that have 12gb+ of vram? I just dont get it?

Impossible to know, really.

The average user doesn't know about things like background processes and the resources they hog, they don't know not to install all the optional check boxes for things they go to download and might be running several "help" bars and three antivirus programs and such. There are too many possible factors.

Also other folks are probably running higher resolutions. 1440p for example, on that 3060ti you might find yourself turning stuff down to medium. Plus some guys like to run ultra on all their settings. Higher end textures, ray tracing etc all eat into the vram. I’ve seen where guys on YouTube say run high settings for your games because a lot of the time you can’t tell a difference between high and ultra unless you are looking for it. But that high usually gives better fps.

The perhaps surprising thing about the PC gaming scene is... not a whole lot of people know how their computers work. I can count the number of people who built their own PCs with maybe two hands with room to spare. Everyone else I know who plays games on their PC either have a laptop or bought a pre-built machine. So it's very likely these people also just load up their computer with a ton of applications they don't need that all fight each other because well, if it works with their hardware or something, then why not install it?

I guess to sound stuck up, I've yet to have a problem with Windows updates in the past 10 years. So I wonder what everyone else is doing with their computers to have all these problems. I'm not exactly the most careful with my computers too.
