If you're looking into amazon recommendations;

:D

* better case leaves you with a platform to work off of and a set of fans would only leave you with wanting a new case later down the road. Spend a little more and call it a day with the chassis. I'd have suggested the 350D window but with a $110 for a $90 board = not good idea.

Man this moves fast, I'm not quoting because I'm lazy, sorry!

The Rosewill Line-M is not a great case. I built a PC for a friend in one because it was cheap and looked adequate. You could pick up the mATX CM N200 for around that price. Which happens to be a great case for under $50.

I'm actually thinking about moving my main system to the N200 because I like the fan setup and ventilation more. I just think the 350D looks so much better which is why I haven't made the jump, yet. I will probably try a new case soon. Specifically one of those Thermaltake cubes, rip off of Caselabs or not, it looks like a great chassis to build in.

Great! Thank you!

I really like the 450D. Especially the vented front panel, a Corsair rep on OCN mentioned they were going to be selling a replacement vented front panel for the 350D soon. I will definitely get one. This 780 Classified easily gets into the high 80C's with that panel on and the side panel on. If I remove the front panel temps drop a few degrees, if I remove the side panel it drops more like 10C. That's why I'm thinking I need a different case. Either that or I just need to make the CPU's CLC fans to exhaust, that should help. But then I'm left with one intake in the front. Setting up dual fans in the front is harder than it should be.

Well, There is a computer at my aunt's house, and I get to set it up so my grandparents can skype with India. Several Problems:
1)It has windows XP, so I am testing elementary OS versus linux Mint to see which is better.
2)I have no clue what the specs are
3) Non- OEM. :D
4) Possible damage.

If it has a half decent GPU, I might just switch it out since the most intensive thing will be skype :p:lol:

EDIT: E.OS is a reskin of Ubuntu. It's going to be Linux Mint with possibly a few mods... That is, if they remember xD

The problem: Antec is stupid as hell, and made both sides wide. So, it doesn't fit the rear 140/120 mount.

Solution: Screwed the 120rad on the top. Ziptied a 140 ontop of it. Seems to work wonders. Before I was maxing CPU at 60C~.. Now, Max is 56s. Once I move to an x61 or d15, I will overclock the hell out of it.

I have heard good things about the n200. Might wanna look at it.

Ok so now I got one screw in. Screw driver wouldn't fit in the case lol.

But here is a picture.

Would you guys say I go for the line-m from rosewill or the cougar spike? I can't go for n200 because he wants a very small build, because his mom wants him to bring it tom college in a couple of years without difficulty.

If he wanted a small build perhaps he could consider going mITX with a budget case such as a Cooler Master Elite 130 or a Thermaltake Core V1.

Also, with a case that can fit long graphics cards I don't see the point in paying more for a ITX R9 285.

Regarding college... make the son carry his own PC. I know that's what I'll be doing

Do you guys have any recommendations for a good cheap, and overclocking able motherboard for the G3258? I'm helping my friend build a 500$ computer, but finding a good, cheap motherboard for it is really confusing.

Good point, swapped it out for a 280x.

I got the MSI H81M-E33: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130730

You can't really do much with the Pentium G3258 even on Z97 but for a $500 system you're limited to your budget and for a $50 motherboard you can't beat that. All you can really do is change the mulitplier but that's enough of a speed boost.

Kind of OT but I just got back from watching Kingsmen: The Secret Service. Man that movie kicked ass.

Meanwhile, my dream college is only 45 minutes away and I don't have a PC to carry :p

Thanks! I found the MSI H81M-P33, but it doesn't seem to be a differences between the 2, but it looks like the e33 uses a different lan, and the P33 is 10$ cheaper here. I might have to sacrifice the TX3 cooler, but it's only 19$, and I'll get better overclock temps, but I have seen some people using the stock cooler for small overclocking.

That's why I'm not a fan of giant cases. If you have to transport it, you're SOL.

The TX3 isn't any better than the stock fan - you should save your money anyways and put it to use somewhere else.
