To bad EA sucks, and didn't accept me, but they accepted all my friends.....

Good thing I still have a lot of games to play on Steam 😀 Portal 2 and skyrim.

It's an open beta now. Meaning it's no longer closed... everyone can play it. It should be in your Origin games library.

Deep breaths.
My SG05 was out of stock when i got it,the dates were all funky. It'll come earlier than they say. It's just to make sure they don't lie to you and give you too early a date then you sue them to hell when it's late by an hour or something.Chill dude,Amazon don't delay.

Amazon can be painfully slow when it comes to shipping. I ordered my mouse from them (Mad Catz R.A.T. 5 - awesome mouse) and it took well over a week before I got the product if you don't use Prime.

Got my AMD rig upgraded today, purchased an FX-8320 from Micro Center for $99. Added in a 1TB Caviar Blue because the hard drives I had were running out of space.

This was the original configuration:

Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 w/ side window
PSU: Corsair TX 750 V1
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
CPU: 2.6 GHz AMD Phenom II x6 1055T
RAM: 16GB Corsair XMS 3 DDR3 1600 MHz 1.6V
SSD: 120GB Intel 320
HD: 320GB Western Digital Caviar Blue
Optical: Lite On DVD Burner
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 5830
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

This will be the new configuration:

SSD: Samsung 840 Evo or OCZ Vector 150 (haven't decided yet, will probably go with which ever one is cheaper)
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition
HD: 1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue
CPU: 3.5GHz AMD FX-8320
OS: Windows 8.1

Here are some pictures:

Unfortunately I lost one of the grounding feet to the case which is why it looks a bit lop-sided. It's probably in the trunk of my car.

I'm also planning to go with a 2 x 8GB configuration in the RAM when / if RAM comes down in price since this will be used for developing and accounting applications when I get in more advanced classes in my major. I'm also planning to upgrade the GPU to a 4GB GTX 760 (will most likely be buying the Gigabyte model when I get my tax refund) since this rig will eventually be hooked into multiple 23.6" displays.

G-unit, I've always admired the 9xx's from CM's HAF lineup and to see it being put to good use by your hands is a welcome sight :) Is it your all rounder rig or do you game on it much?

Gam3r01, Nice work on that case+cable job.

If you guys don't mind, would you see me making a GPU upgrade on my AMS build or would you guys suggest moving/investing to a new platform altogether? I yet use my Q9550 for rendering jobs and alot of my time here on Tom's. Thinking if I should retire the massive Spedo case altogether...?

^ Eager to hear what you guys have to say :)

Mind you, I'll have an EVGA Z87 Stinger+i7-4770K on the way to kick start my splash builds. EK Gold RH block on its way to my doorstep hopefully in another 24 or so hrs 😀 Excited!

Lutfij - I say go ahead and make a whole new system. Always nice to see a new rig on here. Make a really fast system using the 4770K and the Z87 stinger with a whole custom loop in a nice case. :) Those are just my two cents. I dont think GPU upgrades are that interesting most of the time. Its 2014. Kick of the year with a new rig!

Q: Keep the AMS as is or invest on GPU for it?

Compact Splash will be my new rig since it gets the Z87+i7-4770K. If you didn't know, I'd need 4 rigs in total - 2 for my offices and 2 for my residences.

Wow, a lot going on. Stick I'll be interested to hear about your trades. That's a beast of a case; I'm guessing you got an amazing deal on it.
I'm looking forward to a low-profile version of the GTX750Ti for Gypsy. Otherwise, I'm on the verge of putting the HD7970 back in Omega and just leaving it there.

^ this 😉

Mirakle - The 750Ti's were meant for space constrained/compact systems, HTPC rigs or people who bought a case with a low wattage PSU pre-installed but would like a kick out of their GPU's. I don't see the need to sli them though.

Onus+Stickg1 - It'd be a perfect upgrade for both since you guys have the said conditions to get one. Even though the SG08 can handle a Titan in there 😛 Speaking of which Stick did you gut the PSU that came with the SG08?

Sitck , Lutifj - Right. Forgot that most people will be using small rigs for that. But if any of you are planning on getting one, get the EVGA Ones. Did you hear about the black titan? They say its like a 780TI but with more memory....

Must not side grade(not much of a difference would be my guess) to gtx 750 to save a few watts.....650 ti is still fine(also the reference card looks to have one fan speed by the 2 wire fan in many pictures, maybe it is still quiet?)....

Hell the 5770 was fine(performance wise) ,but LOUD if any game was run and took more power watching videos.

They put out 3-4 TB 2.5 inch drives I am all over a smaller system with a low profile video card :)

Nukemaster - I never see my self with a small rig but now I will consider. Tiny 3-4TB 2.5inch drives would be awesome. But graphics cards still cant be small and be high end like a 780ti without heating up due to a small size and less fans....Cant be too far from now.

Just for my media/file storage/day to day web surfing system. My game system will still get all the goodies(well as much is needed) :)

This rig I'm going to use to run software development and accounting apps and to do some gaming on it as well as be an all around system when I finish all the upgrades. My main gaming rig is the Intel rig that's linked in my signature. The last thing I want to do to this system is upgrade the GPU to a 4GB GTX 760 for a multiple monitor setup and add replace the Intel drive with a Samsung 840 Evo or an OCZ Vector. The HAF 912 is a sweet case, I was thinking of modding the fans to red LEDs to make it look like the European HAF 912+.

G-unit - are the fans all you're going to mod on it? case feet? interior paint job ? :)

Stick - I think for the money spent, the GTX750Ti would be the way to go...seeing how the GTX660 is slightly more than the 750.
