Holy crap, only $41 for this router? Why didn't I get one of these sooner?

The baby boy was born at ~11:50 PST, but around 11 in the morning in India. So now I have another birthday on the same day.
Also, my mom didn't buy anything(she did this last year when I said no) so I'm OK with that. I never asked for anything, and my mom kinda got angry 😛.

Great choice. I would say it's a nice phone to go with.

Don't be nervous! I was a iPhone 3G user, and I made the jump to android as well, never looked back. There will be a lot of new things that you'll experience.

I'm also in the market for a new phone, since my contract is up. I honestly don't know what to go with lol. There's such a silly hold up with my family. They want a better deal on the contract, so they have to give the provider a call. No one has called yet, so looks like I'm gonna have to call them.

Nexus 6, hands down. I MIGHT get one this week as a late birthday gift.
The Asus Zenfone 2, while amazing, has SO MUCH BLOATWARE. I'd put a ROM on it ASAP.
Runner Up: LG G4. Amazing phone as well. SD card and removable battery are amazing.
2nd Runner up: Samsung s6/HTC m9. I've used both, and they are pretty good.

Note,

Hey nikoli, I have an s5. What carrier are you getting? I could walk guide you around the rooting process, getting rid of the bloatware on there, or maybe even getting custom roms might seem intimidating but trust me it is well worth it. You'll hate android at first coming from ios, but trust me, just give it time :)

Also the nexus 6 is good, but look at the g4 for a phablet, s6/s6 edge for smaller devices, m9 for build quality, and the moto x 2nd gen for a great balance of battery life, form factor, and durability, that thing is a tank.

I had an iPhone 4 and hated the small screen and limited space. Right now I have a Galaxy S6 and this is bar none the best phone that I've ever had. Switching between applications couldn't be easier and the big screen is big enough that I can do just about anything on it, but smaller than some of those gigantic screen phones (I hate the term "phablet" ).

Yep, s6 basically flattened all the issues I have with my s5 in terms of camera quality, build quality, size, and bloatware. I was able to fix alot of it with a case/skin, and rooting followed by uninstalling bloat/crapware, and enjoy the experience now. I went from a s3 to a 1st gen moto x to an s5, my phones tend to last around a year to a year and a half before I get bored.
Edit: It'll be hard to give up the great battery life and the expandable storage I have with my s5 though, this is the first time i'm really using my phone to the max

The build pictures that I posted on my PC Part Picker pages I took with my S6. I had some pictures that I had taken with my older HTC One but they didn't look that good. HTC phones are very solid in terms of build quality, I will give them that, but they are not known for picture quality.

I do wish I had a phone with expandable storage though. I think the LG G4 (or whatever the next version is) will be my next phone when I'm due for an upgrade next year.

Yeah, the screen size is what was bad about it. I didn't mind it when I had my 3G, but after getting the S3, holy crap did it change everything haha.

But after a year, or 2, the S3 started becoming a hungrier eater of the battery. I remember driving with my friend to Toronto downtown, and I was using my S3 as a nav. It's just a 1 hour drive on the highway, and it ate 50% of it's battery life. It was fully charged!

With my Nexus 5, I did the same thing, but it only used 15% of it. I also used it again to drive back home. This thing did not die till midnight.

The LG G4 will be my next phone. But at the same time, I love the Nexus experience, and I want a Nexus phone lol.

I can't stand Samsung and Verizon now that they lock the bootloader and it is a pain in the behind to root(now we have towelroot). I never again want to touch a samsung phone if it is on Verizon or ATT.

The g4 just got root, ROMs should be coming with either safestrap(very very very very watered down version of TWRP, not very functional) or TWRP. The g4 root is a bit risky as you have to reflash the system partition to a rooted version.

I also like Netgear routers, but my current one is a DLink. Belkin is on my Do-Not-Buy list for offering unreliable junk, and Linksys was just bought by Belkin, so I would assume "cost-cutting" measures would be imposed that make them untrustworthy as well.
I'm beginning to think about a new phone. High battery life, removable battery, and SD Card expansion are requirements. Right now I've got a S4 that seems to be developing light-sensor problems.

D34TH, ya its seriously bs that they lock the boot-loader, if we buy the device let use do what we want with them... Oh well, towelroot was an alternative, but next time around i'm going to getting a tmboile phone and running it on whatever carrier I want. Oh well.

I have a Cisco router ATM. A E3000, I think it was built by Linksys when Cisco owned them. But I has been a solid router, it does get hot thou. I could just use a spare 120mm fan, a NZXT fan controller, and a raidmax PSU I have laying around to cool the thing.

Their support is weird thou. I had a issue setting it up, so I gave their live chat support a go. They weren't really helpful, so I decided to give them a call instead. After giving them my SN, and some other stuff, they said that since i only have 1 time support warranty thing, and I used it on the live chat support, I had to pay them for their help.

Yeah I wonder how they're going to name the next version of Nexus. They already used Nexus 7, and Nexus 9 is that HTC tablet. So I wonder what they are going to call it? Nexus A?

So who is on your do not buy list. I know CM is.

CM for dishonesty and shoddy products, Apevia/Aspire for junk PLUS shoddy QA, Belkin for junk, Diamond for technical incompetence, GM for being out of business, Chrysler for junk (and possibly being out of business as well; I think they also took "bailout" money), Monsanto anything for being Evil; that's all that readily comes to mind.
Of course, I wouldn't buy specific products known to be junk, but haven't necessarily blacklisted the company; examples would be Raidmax, Diablotek, Logisys, etc. It is conceivable (however unlikely) that they could someday produce a product worth buying.

LG G4 is the first thing that pops to my mind. My s4 is perfectly fine... Except the bootloader.

I'm just going to stick with Nexus or a phone that already has a bootloader unlock.

I don;t mess with Monsanto either. After seeing Food inc. I realized they are pure evil.

Not to get into GRAPES, but...
Some companies have been careless, even negligent. Exxon and BP come to mind. Monsanto, however, is Evil. Their concern is strictly for their bottom line, and they are creating abominations (e.g. working on a "suicide" gene to prevent procreation, which is about as unnatural as it is possible to be) for that purpose. I won't get started on other stuff they do (do watch that Food, Inc. presentation) so I don't get stuck in the vineyard, but I can't think of another company (even other biotechs like DuPont) that I'd happily see utterly destroyed and its executives sent to roast in Hell.
