I suppose it depends on what you are trying to cool. I believe a large air cooler like the Noctua NDH-14 or the Phanteks ph-tc14pe are slightly quieter then a stock h100i. Changing out the fan you do lose a little performance.

The H100i or any H series from corsair can and probably will be much louder than a Noctua. Especially if the fans are ramped up. If I max the stock fans to their highest performance, my system sounds like a jet engine. I have installed an ND-U12 on a system and it was completely silent even on max. Bad part is, an NH-D14 will out perform my H80i. Right now the best solution for max cooling would be the H100i but if you care more for silence rather than cooling performance, the NH-D14 is the way to go. Cools extremely well and whisper silent. They also come with a resistor so that you can put them at half the rpm for complete silence.
