All questions about BIOSs/benchmark results/overclocking technique, etc., for the MSI GTX 770 Lightning posted here. I will try to help you out as much as I can.

This card's GPU 2.0 boost uses 13 MHz steps (1320 MHz, 1333 MHz, 1346 MHz, etc.). You have to check MSI Afterburner, to find out what GPU 2.0 boost you're running at when benchmarking. When you reach a 13 MHz step which is unstable, just dial back the core clock 1 MHz (back down to the last 13 MHz step), and you should be at your highest stable overclock. :)

My own overclocking results:

GPU Clock: 1254 MHz
GPU Boost: 1306 MHz
GPU 2.0 Boost: 1346 MHz
Memory Clock: 7800 MHz

Afterburner settings:

Core Voltage: +100 mV
Memory Voltage: +100 mV
Aux Voltage: +0
Power Limit: 125% (increased with Kepler BIOS Tweaker)
Temp Limit: 95°C (prioritised)
Core Clock: +104 MHz
Memory Clock: +400 MHz (lowered default to 3500 MHz in Kepler BIOS Tweaker)
Fan Curve: 10%/0°C, 100%/70°C

Unigine Heaven 4.0 Results (highest settings possible, no 3D, single monitor, 1920 x 1080):

Final FPS: 44.5 FPS
Highest Temp: 78°C (after 3 loops)

Hi, I was looking for help OC'ing my lightning 770. I can't seem to change the Core Voltage as high as your guys, the slider caps out at +12. Trying any overclock causes benchmarks to crash so its no good.

I currently have changed to LN2, using Driver Version 332.21, MSI afterburner 3.0.0 Beta 18 and in settings I have checked Unlock Voltage Control and Unlock Voltage Monitoring. Why can't I change the core voltage higher that +12?

Here is a SS of exactly what I'm looking at when I use MSI afterburner. How do I go further than +12? http://imgur.com/00jGsb7

Might be a little late for you, but i had the same problem when i moved my Lightning card to my 2nd pci-e slot on my motherboard, ln2 bios would not detect at all and gpu-z & afterburner would appear blank. Moved it back to the 1st slot and everything was fine. Was really strange as the normal bios would load on the 2nd slot but not the ln2.

I've tried ln2 bios before and it was not an oc game-changer ! The card still oc the same as if it was on the original bios, but it might become handy when flashing go wrong...
I overclocked my card and it is pretty stable under these settings:
GPU CORE CLOCK: 1320 MHz(boost)-1254MHz(standard boost)
MEM CLOCK:7800MHz
All other settings remained untouched...
I play crysis 3 on max settings with FXAA on and VSync on adaptive and i get 25 min 49 avg 58 max in welcome to the jungle map...
I gess i won a GPU lottery with this one as it does perform good vs 75°C temps and for 280 dollars 😀

Hello guys,

I have very strange OVERCLOCK results!! On my gtx 770 Lightning LE card i have 2 bios which need to be physically move(switch) by my hand on Graphis Card! In NORMAL BIOS my OC results is higher and better then on LN2 BIOS!

MSI Afterburner Settings on NORMAL BIOS:

Name: GeForce GTX 770 Lightning LE
Driver Version: 334.89
Core Voltage: +100
Power Limired +109%
Core Clock: +150 Mhz GPU-Z-> GPU CLOCK: 1222; Boost: 1274 ; GPU 2.0 Boost: 1306 Mhz
Memory Clock: +500 Mhz

Picture of ORIGINAL/NORMAL BIOS: http://www.mediafire.com/view/myfiles/#j6zvj9n0u6dhla2

MSI Afterburner settings on LN2 BIOS:
Name: GeForce gtx 770
Driver Version: 334.89
Core Voltage: +12 ( only +12! why so low? )
Power Limited: +109%
Core Clock : +110Mhz ; GPU-Z-> GPU CLOCK: 1182; Boost: 1234 ; GPU 2.0 Boost: 1267 Mhz
Memory Clock: + 500Mhz

Picture of LN2 BIOS: http://www.mediafire.com/view/myfiles/#oq818435y296uj3

With LN2 BIOS we need to have more OVERCLOCK potential or not? For me NORMAL BIOS give me more OVERCLOCK potential than LN2 BIOS. Why is it so? Why is voltage on LN2 BIOS only +12 and on NORMAL BIOS +100?

One more question! When is LN2 BIOS activated, in Afterburner settings must write under graphics card name/model : MSI gtx 770 Lightning LE (LN2) ?

In my case, when is LN2 BIOS activated , in Afterburner settings , name of Graphics Card is just "GeForce gtx 770" . Look my second pictures!

I also have two GTX770 Lightning.
I use the "normal" Bios for overclocking as the lN2 I do not have flashed a GOP Version. (For Windows 8 Fast Boot options etc..)

You write you add +150 MHZ to the core clock , but only reaching 1306Mhz Boost ? Mhhh isn't the Boost on stock already on about 1241 ?

I have reached the following stable setup:

Core Voltage: +65 mV
Memory Voltage +0

Core clock +100 Mhz
Memory clock +300Mhz

Boost clock: 1330 Mhz (Don't know where the 10Mhz disappeared , but that's what it shows....)

With this setting it runs stable in all games I play, including Heaven, Valley or any 3dMark. Mximum tmeperatures, thx to watercooling 51C (It never got more so far). Grafic cards should no longer be air cooled 😉

I have a problem with MSI GTX 770 lightning edition that i can't get more than +60 v on the core clock with max core voltage is set to 100, i use the afterburner version 4.0.0 (final/stable), i keep crashing in Heaven benchmark when i set my core clock +60 v.
my settings in the afterburner is (LN2 bios):

Core voltage 100 mV
Memory voltage 100 mV
aux voltage 50 mV
Power limit 109% (prioritized)
Temperature limit 95 C
Core clock 50 MHZ
Memory clock 300 MHZ

And what about the Fur mark benchmark, it's one of a hell benchmark that push your GPU to its max temperatures , i really would like to hear about your test in fur mark.

Here are my settings:

LN2 bios + Latest WHQL drivers (344.75)
Afterburner Settings:
Core Voltage: +100mV
Memory Voltage: +100mV
Aux Voltage: +50mV
Power Limit: 109%
Temp Limit: 95°C (linked to power) (Priority)
Core Clock: +109MHz
Memory Clock: +540MHz
Fan 100% @ 90 cº
*extended MSI settings
*forced stable voltage

After 30 minutes of Valley – Max Settings Full Screen:
MAX TEMP 79º
MAX CORE 1359MHZ
MEMORY CLOCK: 4050

Valley – Graphics - 1415 MHZ
Memory – 4045 MHZ

System Specs:
MSI Z97 Gaming 5
I54690K @ 4.0Ghz
Ram 8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro @ 1866
Corsair H100i Water Cooling

In Afterburner Graphs:
MAX TEMP 79º
MAX CORE 1359MHZ
MEMORY CLOCK: 4050

Is that ok? Should I change something???

Very stable with all new games (The ones I tried... :))

Thank you

Faye3, Furmark is not an accurate benchmarking program, and not many overclockers use it nowadays. It's great at heating up the card, but it doesn't stress it whatsoever. I think the problem you're having might be related to the power limit and/or having an inefficient power supply. How many watts is your PSU, and is it bronze/silver/gold rated? I find, if you buy one which is slightly more powerful than needed, you can overclock that bit further. It is always possible, though, that you've just got not that great of a card. Silicon lottery. I know it sucks. 🙁

No, Hugo, that seems fine! If you're not crashing, the core clock is probably fine; if you see any coloured dots on the screen, it's time to dial back the memory clock! Try Battlefield 4; it's the best game for testing for memory artifacts IMO.
