How many lvls are in far cry? I'm just at the part where i enter the archive, and shot a few invisible trigen b@stards.

I think LINC would be the right choice if you have to pick between the two.

Of well, maybe he just forgot to put it in the thread.

Just wonder about perfromance impact. Perhaps we will see NEW IQ differences in FarCry and for the time being they'll likely favour nV's new card. Would be nice to get a little more info, and be sure exactly what's going on, but for now the Screenies offer somethng to consider about the utility of PS3.0.

Well it appears the differences pointed out in FarCRy are not PS2.0 vs PS 3.0 but PS1.1 versus 3.0, so we can't draw any conclusions yet. Would like to see PS 2.X vs 3.0.

So still no evidence of the superiority of PS3.0 yet, but still it's nice that the GF6800 is not defaulting to PS 1.1 like many other cards.

Give it some time and someone will do an exhaustive look at the differences in more than one game, like [H] did for PS 1.1 vs 1.4 vs 2.0 a few months back.

I can see some people scoffing already;

15K in 3Dmk01, ah who cares that's nothing special!

Oh... you say it's in 3Dmk03, well it doesn't mean anything, 3Dmark03 is "useless". :tongue:

Interesting, but I would like the actuall fill rate, PS2.0 and VS performance figures. The score itself is promising but unfortunately doesn't tell me much. But of course they wouldn't realease much info for now.

I have a feeling that if the 24FP is the case we'll hear alot about that being an issue.

Personally, I'm just happy to hear that it's a horse race.
Sure I'd prefer the R400/500 to be on the market instead of what may be a refresh, but if one has performance and the other has features, all with about the same IQ, then I think that offers benifits to both.

Which I chose will depend on the PCI-EX cards, and also when the R500 and it's nV counterpart hits the streets (if it's early fall then yipee, a quick refresh for me and then on to other things).

Should at least offer alot of talking points when these come out.

Certainly not the same some people who considered 12k in 3dMark such a monumental achievement, indesputable evidence that the 6800 is unbeatable?

Hey, I've heard of those people!

If I'm not mistaken, those same people claimed that shader precision and strength were absolutely unimportant compared to raw framerate speed... until the Geforce 6800 had the upper hand in that department!

Now, those people claim that shader technology is the most important thing since sliced bread, and that framerates are no longer as important as they used to be!

Damn peculiar, those people!

Personaly I can't get over how the guy ruined it for nVidia. They truly produced a great product that might yet keep the crown even after r420. And by being greedy he took all the glory out of it.

I think kinney is really nvidia's enemy he sure ruined it for them. If I was ceo of nVidia and kinney was on the payroll I'd fire his a$$.

If I glanced at a spilt box of tooth picks on the floor, could I tell you how many are in the pile. Not a chance, But then again I don't have to buy my underware at Kmart.
