The Other 16 "GodModes" For Windows 7

I found out the hard way why not to do it on Vista x64. I got endless Windows explorer crashes and had to reboot into Win 7 and remove the "God Mode" manually from the desktop. I even tried task mgr in Vista but it would crash as well. Does it work on Win 7 64 bit? I'm now hesitant to try.

Create a new folder on your desktop. When it asks for the name enter this

SomthingHere.{00C6D95F-329C-409a-81D7-C46C66EA7F33}

Change the GUID to one from the list above.

Neat. Location sensor I can't figure out why its available. The others are easily enough reachable without these though.

@: mlopinto2k1 : did you add a name and then a period and then the code? Thats how it works.

Yeah, I hear that. Vista x64 here. Had the same problem, but found the fix for it. Just use "explorer.exe shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}" as the shortcut and it works.

You can also try {28803F59-3A75-4058-995F-4EE5503B023C}, which is Bluetooth Devices. To find others, search in the registry under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\ for Values (not keys or data) "InfoTip".

I found a few that don't work, but look like they could if there were perhaps another registry key elsewhere. These would be search, taskbar / start menu, and a few others.

I'm gonna have to check these out After I finish watching NetFlix 😀

So what is the MS guys name... Sinofsky or Sofinsky? How do you miss this? Does Tom's have an editor. If not, you need to get one or more on payroll. I am sure the newspaper industry has plenty looking for work.

Some others I found doing that search:
sync conflicts: {289978AC-A101-4341-A817-21EBA7FD046D}
Sync setup folder: {2E9E59C0-B437-4981-A647-9C34B9B90891}
Windows Update: {36eef7db-88ad-4e81-ad49-0e313f0c35f8}
(not comprehensive)
All of these were tested to work on Win 7 Ult x64.

All of them work great on Windows 7.
Actually you have 17 codes and 16 modes. The second last is extra and does not seem to do anything.

Tried it in my Documents folder on Vista x64 SP2 for kicks and the explorer.exe crashed, but Windows did not. Once explorer.exe reloaded I tried accessing opening the folder in Windows Explorer, produced the same end result. Had to yeah olde command prompt, change to the directory, and delete the shortcut before I could access my Documents folder via Windows Explorer again. I let Windows sent MS and error report...but who knows what will come of it...

psutim, did you create a folder or a shortcut? I did these with folders.

To find others, look for shdocvw.dll in the registry as data. If it is data for a "(default)" value in the InProcServer32 key, then the parent of that key seems to be the GUID to use in the folder name. The other keys under that GUID key when the hack works seem to be DefaultIcon, Instance, and ShellFolder.
