How to get higher resolution in this game? Why game crashing with Fraps in Windows 10 but works fine without Fraps?

It was designed for windows 95, that's how old it is!

If your only problem is that it doesn't work with fraps, then try looking for other capture software.

buddy if you can run win10 but NOT sims1, you have a major problem. we cant read minds.

To get higher resolution -

"If you right-click on The Sims 1 shortcut and choose "properties", a menu will popup and there will be a textbox labeled "Target." If you add -r1024x768 to the end of the textbox, your game will run at a higher resolution."

Also I'm not sure you'll be able to record this game with Fraps. Fraps has problems with Sims 1 and so many other old games out there. Try Bandicam, Action, Shadowplay, Dxtory, there are plenty of recording softwares out there better than Fraps I'm sure.

Fraps is a bad choice to record gameplay, because it's old garbage.
If you want to record the sims 1, try to get it running in windowed mode, and then use a modern recording software like OBS/XSplit to capture the window.
