I'm curious for anyone who owns the sims 3 and can load the game and play it quickly what your computer specs are.

It takes me about 30 minutes from startup to get to actually playing the game, while playing sometimes the game will just randomly freeze for 2-5 seconds. I have no mods and canyourunit tells me I should have no problems. I don't have these problems with other games.

I've also played it under other more powerful computers and notice similar results. An SSD video I saw on youtube only cut load times by about half. However I know it's possible to get even faster than that since I've seen at least one video where someone loaded the game in under a minute. However I can't seem to find the video anymore to ask the author what the heck kind of specs he might have had.

Do you have sims 3 expansions? I heard the game really drags when several expansions packs are installed. I played it for a day or two once and the game loaded fairly quickly.

dont know alot about pc, but how new is your cpu. and maybe you might have some spyware or bloatware on your hdd. 30 minutes to load anything, its not the game, its the pc or something inhibiting performance.

Well I've noticed near equal performance on two very different computers. The first is this laptop, and yes it is less than optimal... pentium R dual core, 256GB (with 230 used up) and 3GB ram, 1366X 768 resolution, and some sort of integrated graphics on 14 or 15 inch screen.

However I have similar performance in a newer desktop with an I3 2100, 500 GB (140 used), 4GB ram, and gtx 550 ti at 1080p on 24 inch screen.

so i'm wondering if I need an SSD, or an ivy bridge, or perhaps a monster video card... (I kinda doubt that last one since The sims isn't exactly metro 2033)
maybe I need to run on a worse resolution... etc.
or all of the above.

My system is core 2 Duo CPU, ATI 2 GB graphics, 3.5 RAM. I can play the sims 3 with expantions ( I've installed 4 expansion packs) but it's kinda slow,I really don't like to play a slow game. :-( I think my CPU is the main problem.

From launch to playing it takes about 3-4 minutes. Once I am in the world it is still loading objects, so it runs a little slow for the first 30 seconds or so, but then no issues. I have World Adventures, High End Loft Stuff, Ambitions, Fast Lane Stuff, Late Night, Generations, and several mods installed.
