You should see how many of my troops can not do command line/prompt/scripting/non-gui... Saddening really. 🙁

For every argument for GUI, I have two for granularity through command line/console... Alas, I am fighting an uphill battle.

[/and yes it dates me, damn old timers can "get with the new GUI" 😛]

I know exactly what you mean, brother. Been there, done that, then showed them how to fix the problem myself. Was even asked by a so-called "expert" how a guy of my rank knew how to do something....he then had a humbling experience.....

The funny thing is they(AF Tech. School) hand out Sec+ certs. like they were, well... certs candy. heheh. Oh to the FNG's who get questioned by me on security... But I guess they believe they can be secure, its a start... at least. lol.

Um...i'm no expert, just a suggestion...if you ban a MAC address, doesn't that effectively ban all IPs originating from the same device? I mean, assuming that dynamic IPs are involved.

+1 to NuclearShadow's idea as well...

Banning IPs and MACs wont stop anyone remotely savvy. I say with enough reports or removals make life hell for spam accounts till its not worth it to post anymore.

Captcha enforcement, slow page loads, more advertising something to dissuade them.

You do realize how easy it is to change a MAC address, right? This will work exactly once. Same with IPs.
