The Titan X requires 24GB RAM minimum

I just don't like the fact that no clear information/explanation is given amid this mass confusion. Because their final/correct input would be the deciding factor of me purchasing extra RAM + Win 8.1 or not.

I was also very confused when I saw it, as I, like many others, saw no real reason behind the requirement. They're going to send me an email after talking to the dev team about it. Hopefully that'll clear things up quite a bit.

Just the textures... I set the textures to high on my gtx 980 and it was using well over 3 GB of vram...

Thing is can you believe them or are you just going to be getting another answer that they really don't know is 100% true or not. They probably don't even know why that requirement was put out in the first place and now everyone is running around trying to get an answer to give the public.

Ok mr91 you stroke your titanX at night and be happy. We aren't even talking about the whole titanX being garbage anymore we are onto a different topic many posts ago. Move on. We are discussing the reasoning behind the 24gb requirement and the game itself.

Currently no games take advantage of Titan X's 12GB frame buffer, however this card is meant to be future proof. So in due time when games would require massive amounts of vram, then the Titan X would really be able to flex its muscles especially at 4K leaving all cards with 3gb/4gb vram in the dust.

The 12 GB is for enthusiasts with 3 2k or 3 4k monitors & 3 Ttian X's lol

I've used 11 Gb of vram with COD ADVANCED WARFARE @ 2k.

Latest greatest in! Here's the news from NVidia. 24-48 is not needed, 8-16GB RAM is correct!

"I have discussed with our manager for your query and request, my manager checked this with our internal Developers and we got a confirmed information for you. The correct requirement will be 8 GB required, 16 GB recommended. NVIDIA Developer Team is currently working on updating the user guide"

Got my gtx titan x last night my original titan started getting some vram issues so got a free upgrade . Gotta love warranty. And not to try and bring back up old stuff but if we're talking about wasting money anything to do with computers and gaming is wasting money. Gotta spend it before it burns a hole in your pocket. This card definitely holds it own in games haven't done anything but unigine heaven so far and i went from 1580 to 2106 between the 2 cards.

Just to confirm, the Titan X does in fact, need 24GB of RAM minimum to work "stably" and that's just for gaming. For processes other than that (heavier work) you may need more. I just spoke to someone from NVidia itself and he/she clarified it for me.

I just thought I'd let you guys know because there is a lot of doubt going on all over the place that it was just a typo and that the manual was correct. That's not the case, 24GB is a minimum requirement for the card to run STABLE.

EDIT: Here is the exact thing they told me:

"GeForce GTX Titan X is itself a 12 GB card. So minimum amount of RAM required to support this card is 24 GB. If you have lesser amount of RAM, the card will still run but the entire GPU memory will not get utilized.It will get limited to 4 GB or lesser amount.We received some users who had less than 24 GB of RAM installed and the PC was showing up VRAM only as 4 GB. The OS will limit the VRAM if the system RAM is less than 24 GB. So as a result, it will be of no use having a 12 GB card installed in the machine. The system RAM will not be able to support 12 GB VRAM. And it will yield only 4 GB VRAM as available dedicated graphics memory. Since you are going to get such a powerful card with 12 GB VRAM, it will be of no use running it on 8 GB ( however, 8GB is really a good amount for other NVIDIA cards). So best is to get the RAM upgraded and enjoy the performance of the card."?

So yea running shadows of mordor everything maxxed at 1080p except the textures. I got those on high not ultra and the game so far hasn't dipped below 74 fps . Max fps 146 averaging about 110+ fps. Looks pretty good graphically.

Are you getting any hitching or stuttering with high textures?

Only lag I get is periodic when I turn textures to ultra but still very playable however I don't notice any difference in the textures so high works for me.

Apparently you only need more than 3gb gpu if you want to run ultra textures which I visably see no change in. Guess I was right about not having to go to medium settings.

High textures use more than 3 GB of Vram and almost 4gb at times for 1440p...
I suggest you try medium the game should be smoother...

You need to download the HD texture pack to use the textures & they do look better however you need to have a over 6 GB of vram for 1440p or higher...

I have the hd texture pack. I purchased the complete game package with season pass. It comes with all that stuff during initial instalI. I run at 1080p as my monitor is a 144hz 1080p monitor. I have NO stuttering AT ALL with everything maxed out except textures being on high instead of ultra. Te game runs silky smooth.

The Texture pack is a complimentary DLC, I suggest make sure you have it installed...
