When I was a child reading The Hobbit Gandalf the wizard just blew me away. Powerful, warm-hearted, cantankerous, righteous, eccentric and wise. Watching Ian McKellan perform the role in the movies was exactly like meeting the Gandalf I'd envisioned as a kid.

But as an adult the character that fascinates me the most would have to be Boromir. A good man and great warrior gradually undone by that wonderful metaphor, the Ring.

Gimli!

my problem is that i was playing heroes of might and magic 3 and i was liking very much to play with the elves, so when i was playing this game the lords of the rings also made its appearance. so i liked more the Legolas ( http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Legolas ). i was very impressed how he was moving and hitting with its arch and also his combat abilities

If I were 10 years younger I would have chosen Legolas, but I'm older and wiser now so I have to say Gandalf is my favourite, Aragorn comes pretty close being the fav but he ends up at second place now.

Ancalagon (aka Acalagon the Black) is a dragon and my favourite character because he was the greatest of all winged dragons and the largest dragon to exist in Middle-Earth. He was bred by Morgorth and was unleashed as the "last line of defense" when Morgorth was facing his final defeat in a battle against The Host of Valinor during the First Age and they were driven back from the gates of Angband.

I like him because of how he was portrayed in the story; big (size unknown but said to be as big as a mountain), black, had flames that were hotter than any dragon, and was used as the ultimate weapon to push back The Host of Valinor.

Later in the Fellowship of the Ring, when Gendalf told Frodo about the origins of the One Ring, he mentioned of Ancalagon saying, "It has been said that dragon-fire could melt and consume the Rings of Power, but there is not now any dragon left on earth in which the old fire is hot enough; nor was there ever any dragon, not even Ancalagon the Black, who could have harmed the One Ring, the Ruling Ring, for that was made by Sauron himself."

So not even the greatest dragon can put a scratch on the One Ring which shows just how powerful the One Ring can be.

I loved his origin so much I even named my PC on PCPartPicker (my link doesn't work anymore, banned on that site) after him. My PC is black and red as well.

i liked very much the Gollum. he was such a strange creature and is adding so much quality to the movie that i was desperate to see again its appearance everytime

The bouncing barrel section was my absolute favorite. I couldn't stop laughing.

My favorite character? Gandalf. I'm a big wizard fan, and he is the quintessential wizard: Wise, powerful, and always in control of the situation, even when it looks like he isn't.

Gotta go with Gandalf. His beard was so awesome, the trilogy won two Best Hair Oscars! Heck, Dumbledore couldn't even win one . . and he had 8 tries! So as far as film goes, Gandalf is The Lord of the Beards. :)>

I really do like all the storys of the Dwarves, because of the big Fortresses and Castles carved into mountains. They all look EPIC :)
