Some off these came out before 2008 but....so what. Only listing games that were released after 1st January 2008 is a dumb idea.

1. Metro 2033
2. TES: Skyrim
3. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
4. Batman Arkham Asylum (Arkham City would be on here too if it wasn't a broken mess on the PC)
5. Company of Heroes
6. Bioshock
7. Amnesia: The Dark Desecent
8. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
9. Call of Duty Black Ops
10. Red Orchestra 2

Foxybox my original list on page 1 is still my top ten.
This list was done in response of avieors post.

I dont even know if I can give a top 10 list for PC games released after 2008 lol My computer is fairly old :)

BIA Hells Highway and DoWII would def be on it though haha

I love it that you have Metro 2033 at number 1 on your list. I couldn't put it in my top 10 - although I wanted to. It is a personal favorite of mine.

Okay, I am going to come out and say that Civilization 5 is definitely one of the best games released in the last 3 years. I know that people complain about the AI, missing features from Civ 4, among other things. But I really believe that it is an absolutely amazing game. I am surprised that not one person has even mentioned it. I am just utterly amazed at that.

I will tell you all something else...

Civilization Revolution is probably the best console strategy game of all time. :)

It is my favorite game released in the last few years by far. I love it.

Damn good game, though the first two are superior imo.

I am so gutted (and a little pissed off) that Gearbox and Ubisoft decided to ruin the series by making Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 instead of another true BIA game.

I love WiC also. I was never big on base building, and I really like the pace of WiC - which makes it a lot better than CoH, IMO.

Yeah, I love my ASUS mobo and i5. 😉

That game got done so wrong by reviewers and critics that it makes me sick to think about it. Metro 2033 was not perfect, but what it does do it does so well, and provides the most atmospheric experience probably ever seen in a shooter. I love it and will always love it. I can't wait for Metro 2034.

I was playing Crysis 2 this morning, actually. High Res textures in DX11 on Ultra.

I am so unimpressed with the graphics. I know I have touted them before, but I don't know what I must have been smoking. I just got through playing through Crysis 1 with the Natural Mod, and playing a little Warhead.

Crysis 2 looks terrible. And in DX11/High Res textures it runs terrible. I am only getting about 60-70fps with my configuration. I do about the same or better in Crysis 1, and it looks a hell of a lot better.

4A Games/THQ obviously didn't bribe the reviewers enough (or at all)....

my fav:

Everquest 2
PlanetSide
Doom
Half Life
Battlefield 3
Call Of Duty Modern warfare 2
Dungeons & Dragons Online
UT2004
City Of Heroes
Team Fortress 2

Yeah I am so pissed that they ruined the franchise. I hope its some kind of sick joke.

Ouch...

Do you think that happens? Paying reviewers? I have heard that before.

"A multi-billion dollar a year industry with everything to gain from good reviews, and one would have to be naive to think that reviews are honest."

I really don't know. Every time something happens to make me think it is so, something happens to make me change my mind.

For instance, Call of Duty keeps getting amazing reviews even though we know the games are good but not that good.

But Madden games don't really do that well in reviews, despite the fact that they are raking in millions and could easily pay off reviewers. Not to mention the times that certain games have been highly anticipated only to flop in early reviews (Devil May Cry 2, Far Cry 2, Sniper Ghost Warrior, Dante's Inferno, FFXIII and others come to mind).

:non: no man CoH is not about base building, you can win the game with one building only. I did not try WiC, but I think CoH has many features that are not available in other RTS games like using cover, fast retreat, squads, and the way resources are gathered, which in my opinion makes it very unique.

I have CoH - but not the two expansions. It is an alright game.

But to me, it is the first Dawn of War with a WW2 skin... :pfff:

I think you answered your own question there. I don't know how often it happens, but it certainly does.

I have read about reviewers being sacked because they gave a lower score than the score the developers/publishers paid for. (Jeff Gerstmann, Gamespot who now runs Giant Bomb) is one. Some say this is just a "rumor" but it makes you think...

One thing is for sure though, Gerstmann got sacked immediately after his review of Kane & Lynch which he gave a 6/10 iirc, Edios was paying Gamespot at the time for "advertising" after Gerstmann was sacked four other editors/reviewers left Gamespot feeling they could no long work for a site who had caved in to advertiser pressure.

Well they were both made by the same company...

I guess which one you prefer between Company of Heroes and Dawn of War depends on if you prefer Warhammer or WW2.

They both play fairly similar, but CoH does have better graphics and slightly updated gameplay.

The quote was what I have heard from others.

I did not know that about gamespot - makes me sick. Advertisers suck ass. What is wrong with making a beast of a game that sells itself? That is what 4A games did with Metro 2033, despite bad reviews and very little (if any) advertising.

Now the thought of bribing critics to get good reviews is scary. Although it doesn't bother me much since I rarely read critic reviews and go with friend recommendations/Games rated highly by players.

That's why I always play a game demos if there is one before buying. 😀

Sometimes I do wonder why everyone loves the CoD games even though they are all basically the same with just slightly better graphics.

CoD has a great formula, they are not going to change it and risk people not liking new changes.

CoD is what CoD is, if they change it then it wouldn't be CoD anymore. CoD keeps doing what CoD does best.
