Went to log into the only profile on this device (admin) at the usual log in screen, with my custom background present, and after hitting enter it gave me a black screen and this message:

"The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded. "

Restarted and when I entered my password everything got bigger like in safe mode and then said "preparing windows". After a couple minutes it brings me to a fresh install desktop with stock everything. I went to shut down completely and then powered back on and I was able to log in fine to my profile.

This has happened twice in the last week after a major windows update. (23H2 build 22631.4037)

Other related info:
-Recently updated GPU driver to the latest Nvidia game ready driver. (560.81)

-Recently lowered my LL AC voltage to 50 from 110 to mitigate degradation on my 13600k as per this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/1eebdid/1314th_gen_intel_baseline_can_still_degrade_cpu/

-Bitdefender firewall has for months been consistently asking me to allow or block many windows services/telemetry processes on startup I have been allowing them.

Full system specs.
970 Evo 1Tb with windows 11 installed
i5-13600k not overclocked
MSI z790 Tomahawk wifi Mobo
Nvidia 4080
Corsair Rm850x PSU
a few other M.2 and Sata ssd's

Three suggestions:

1) Look in Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer for recent error codes, warnings, and informational events that you can associate with or otherwise correspond to the observed problems.

2) Change the voltage back to the original setting/configuration. Determine if the problems stop or otherwise change in some manner. Continue to check Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer for changes.

Just as a matter of elimination.

3) Consider reinstalling Bitdefender - it may be buggy or corrupted. For the most part all that is needed is Windows Security.

Uninstall it for the time being,

If you are not visiting sketchy websites and/or downloading pirated software then there is little need, I think, for Bitdefender.

However, that said, the immediate focus is to discover the cause of the described problems.

Thanks for the reply, I will give all those a try over the next couple days. I'm gonna triple check I have everything backed up before doing anything that requires a restart though, in case I can't get back into the account. May the spirit of USAFRet be with me as I make thine local disk redundant.
will report back soon.
