Question The Witcher 2 lag

Hi,
I'm having a problem playing the Witcher 2 (Steam version): I checked and I have recommended specifications, but my game goes at 15/20 fps. I don't know what to do... please could you help me?
Here are my specs:
  • AMD A9-9420 - 3Ghz (max: 3.6)
  • 8gb RAM
  • AMD Radeon R5 Graphics
  • 240gb SSD Sata
Tell me if you need something else.

I don't think you do.

Make and model of your laptop? I'm assuming laptop since the image search for devices equipped with the A9 you've got are found on mobile computing devices.

Yep, you’ve made a correct supposition, I have a laptop (the make is HP and the model is 15-bw0xx, but I already tried to search it without results...). If you need something else, ask me.

I did, the game set low quality settings and I entered the game... but I got 15/20 FPS... Idk what to do now...

Going by the game requirements and by the speed of the A9 CPU and video chip comparing them, you should be getting higher than 20fps especially on Low. The recommended video cards for the game are a lot faster than your video chip but at low you should be doing better. Do things get slower as you increase quality or does it stay the same? How are you measuring FPS?

I've just tried to run the game at medium quality, and I got 10/12 fps, so not a big loss, about 5-10 fps less, but it's understandable. I don't know what to think now... maybe I loose FPSes 'cause I play it from Steam...? To measure fps I use the integrated function of Steam. I wait for an answer. Thanks again in advance.

You don't actually play it from Steam, you may have bought it from Steam but it was installed on your computer like any other game. Not really sure what is the issue, I only had one AMD A model CPU, an A6, and have not tried gaming on it so I can't say for sure what is happening. Did you check for any driver updates from the laptop vendor? Maybe the special edition had some extra graphics added that made it more demanding on systems.

Ok thanks, I'm checking for some driver updates, what should I do next?

  1. Chances are that there are many programs running in the background slowing down your system. Try closing as much as possible.
  2. Change your power setting to "High performance".
  3. Make sure your laptop is plugged in before launching the game. (this will enable the laptop to use its dedicated graphics card).

Thank you, I already tried the 1st and 2nd, but I didn’t know the 3rd one. Does every laptop have a dedicated graphics card?
