Hi - so I'm trying to Play The Witcher 1 Enhanced Edition for the first time and am surprisingly getting some serious FPS issues. The game runs around 60-70 FPS or so and drops below 60 at certain points. This is an old game and I have a GTX 1080ti. I should be shredding this game no problem and should easily be getting hundreds of FPS (or so you would think....) or at least up to my monitors refresh rate of 120 FPS. I'm not sure why this is happening but no matter what I set the graphics options to it seems to have no effect on the FPS. Whether I max the settings out, put them on low, default etc. the performance is the same.

If it matters, I have 32 GB of ram and an i7-5820k CPU. I can give other PC stats if necessary. I've tried running in compatibility mode but it does not seem to be doing anything.

Can someone please help me with this? Is there way I can get my performance up to what it should be?

Thank you

I have had issues at certain moments in the game but overall had no problem playing. This is an older game, and it's not the hardware so much as optimization for both newer windows and newer graphics/cpu etc. If you go into witcher forums, people may explain what they did to enhance compatibility but just keep in mind just cause the game is old, doesn't mean it's going to run smooth as butter. Sometimes it's going to be exact opposite if it's not well optimized. That being said, witcher EE should give you no crashes or issues trying to get through it all, though I would not expect 100fps.

Thanks for the response. Yeah I figured it was likely an optimization issue but at the same time I've seen videos of people using this card and getting better performance on this game at 4K than I'm getting at 1080p so I figure there's probably something I can do here. I'll check their forums but if anyone can also give me some advice here it would be greatly appreciated as well lol.

Thanks again.
