The Witcher III System Requirements: PCGamer System Requirements and System Requirements Lab,

I think it would be useful to our community if we created a repository of systems that can and cannot play The Witcher III: Wild Hunt. So if you would, please fill out the following and post a) If you are able to play the game and b) what average frame rate you see as well as c) Your system specs.

Copy and paste what follows into your response:

System Specifications
Operating System:
Processor and Speed:
RAM and Speed:
Graphics Card:

Can I play the game - Yes/No:
What Resolution am I set at:
What are my avg FPS:

Just as an example:

System Specifications
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium - 64-bit
Processor and Speed: Intel Core I5-760 @ 2.8GHz
RAM and Speed: 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1333GHz
Graphics Card: EVGA Geforce 8800GTS-640

Can I play the game - Yes/No: NO
What Resolution am I set at: 1920x1080
What are my avg FPS: N/A

I think if we can get a good collection of data, people might have a better idea of what to expect from their systems or perhaps, if they need to upgrade their systems.

Help out, if you would

*Note. I don't actually, nor have any intention to play the game

i believe u, i tried on my 4k tv with res 1080p and max settings but hairwork off i have 60fps avg my tv is 60hz so its maxed out all the time,

do u think the problem might be g-sync monitor ??

becuse i think my pc can do 1440P ultra things with ease and get 60 fps +

I don't really know anything about GSYNC since I don't have a display that supports it.

There is also this thread on the Steam forum for this game where several people are saying they are having success with SLI while others are saying they aren't. It seems to be a mixed bag.

There is someone in that thread claiming that SLI only works after he changed to fullscreen. I am also running fullscreen so that might be an important factor. The default is borderless and it looks identical so some people may not know they aren't actually running fullscreen mode.

Edit: There is also this thread with tons of people reporting success with or without SLI. The game obviously has problems but some people are getting it to run well. Just because some people aren't doesn't mean the people who are getting smooth performance are lying.

Edit 2 There is also This Tom's Hardware Thread dedicated to GTX 970 performance.

With the same CPU as me and one GTX 970 he is getting 30-40fps with 1080p Ultra settings and Hairworks on. It seems reasonable that my claims of 60fps with 2 of them in SLI are accurate.

Haha I was just busting your chops man. Thanks for helping. None the less, I've got a lot of troubleshooting to do tonight.

Settings are mostly set to Ultra except shadows are on High, Grass is Medium, Foliage Draw Distance is Medium, HairWorks is off, Anti-Aliasing is off, Ambient Occlusion is SSAO, and Vsync is disabled.

And if people actually did that, you'd be correct. However, they don't and most of the "Can I Run It" questions that people post here at Tom's are for systems that are significantly below the minimum system requirements. This thread is (supposed to be) a repository of people who have actually played the game and their system specs.

Take your system specs, compare them with what people who can play have posted here and make your own decision.

Besides, doesn't that site just compare your specs against the Minimum and Recommended specs on the box? It doesn't really go into any detail regarding the quality you can run it, nor what kind of framerates you can expect to see. Not to mention, Minimum and Recommended specs aren't always 100% accurate.

People are running this game with dual core processors, myself included. A Pentium dual core is way below the official minimum requirements of an i5, and it's playable too. You can't get this information from canyourunit.com.

nice to see the old Phenom x6 holding up well 😀

I have had success with SLI since day one. There was a Witcher 3 Game Ready Driver released on Monday. The notes specifically mentioned that it was for Witcher 3 optimization and SLI support.

Just make sure you switch from borderless to fullscreen. The default is borderless and some people are reporting that their second card isn't being used at all unless they switch to fullscreen.

System Specifications
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
Processor and Speed: Intel Core i5 760 3.5GHz
RAM and Speed: 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 CL9
Graphics Card: Zotac GTX 770 Amp! Edition

Can I play the game - Yes/No: Yes
What Resolution am I set at: 1080p all settings high with hairworks off.
What are my avg FPS: Approximately 44 FPS on average, with some drops to about 38 in some areas, and moving up to the 50s indoors and during conversations.

new nvidia drivers are on the way since kepler cards are having issues with the game. 2500k@4.4ghz and a 780@1200mhz i can run the game at 1440p with high settings though im having some stuttering issues, especially in the pre rendered cut scenes. the next round of drivers should increase kepler performance by at least 15-20%. in the benchmarks even a gtx960 gives similar performance to a gtx780. i will come back to the game in a few weeks time when all the kinks are worked out.

The Witcher III - Wild Hunt:
On my low end pc with a 1st gen cpu and 5 GB ram

System Specifications:
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i3 550 @ 3.20GHz - Clarkdale 32nm Technology
RAM: 5.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard: MSI 2A9C (CPU 1)

Graphics:
Screen: SMB2430H (1920x1080@60Hz)
GPU: 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (MSI) Overclocked

Can I play the game - Yes/No: Yes
What Resolution am I set at: 1920x1080
What are my avg FPS: (Ultra Settings ave 30 Fps) (High = 40 FPS) & (Medium = 50 FPS)

Looks stunning, but its worth noting all cores on my CPU are running at 85% - 100%. CPU Heats up to around 45 - 50 degrees
The Twin Frozr on the MSI GTX960 100 million Edition with the back-plate keeps GPU at 30 degrees if fans set to 100%

Operating System: Windows 7 Home 64 bit
CPU: FX-6300
RAM: 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 669MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard: Gigabyte, Ltd. 990FXA-UD3
GPU: 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 (EVGA)
Screen: 1920x1080@60hz

What are my avg FPS: Using NVidia optimizations, generally around High, no HairWorks, I was getting fluctuations from 20 FPS to 50. I've locked it at 30 FPS and it runs there solidly. Maybe some of the patches have improved results but I'm comfortable with the 30fps.

My 760 runs at 65 C or so, and my CPU temps don't measure really well, but my 120mm AIO water cooler pumps off a lot of heat. I was getting some crashes from overheating before locking it at 30fps.

Update: Unlocking it and tweaking some settings I was able to get my FPS up to 45ish. But it seemed to tax the 760 more, without much noticeable improvement.

This game is quite well optimised, I must say.

System specifications
Windows 7 64-bit
CPU- i5 660@3.33 ghz
Ram- 4gb ddr3
Graphics Card- Nvidia Zotac Gtx 960 2gb

Can I run the game- YES
Resolution- 1920X1080
Settings- Low
Avg fps- 25ish

I'm glad this thread is catching on! I think these kinds of posts can be a great resource for people by providing real-life performance reports.

Completely off-topic here, but would any of you be interested in writing a review for The Witcher III? We have one community game review up currently, and a few more in the pipes, but I'd LOVE to get a user review for The Witcher III. You can find some more details and an example of a review here. Please reach out to me if you're interested!

I find this a little strange, because my system is lower then yours ..

I think your graphic card will be the downside in your configuration. All current games uses a lot of VRAM, and you would require atleast 1GB to even run the game at smooth gameplay in low settings. At 1080p Witcher 3 might not even start on your computer.

You should be getting higher numbers than that. Try turning off Nvidia Hairworks, tone down foliage and draw distance. Set shadows and grass to medium/high.
