How long can thermal paste been kept in its original tube to be used for future applications?

Good question.
I would continue to use it until it has hardened in the tube and no longer flows out.

I have various tubes that ate perhaps 5 years old and are still useful.

Agree. If it still flows and has no separation, go with it.

Have a few tubes of AS5 and shin etsu pastes from 14 years ago that I still use.
