Thermal Paste questions on laptop

Hello,

I just reapplied my thermal paste on the MSI GE60-2PE Apache Pro. I use the Cooler Master X1 Fusion to reapply the OEM thermal paste. But, after I have seen the people who services laptop applies it, this lead to higher temperatures, as well as some questions.

Normally, when playing Hitman Absolution the CPU hit a high 88 degree celcius, but now it is hitting a dangerous 96 degree celcius. As he is applying it, I've seen him do the following:

1. Apply a line of thermal paste across the CPU which take up 3/5 of the CPU core.

2. Apply a 2 rice sized thermal paste on the GPU.

3. Applied thermal paste on the little pins above the green coloured chip.

Can I know is that something wrong above? Thanks!

Best tip anyone can give about thermal paste, Less is more. If you add more it insulates heat and that is very very bad. Usually the best method or most common is the small rice like amount on the top of the CPU.

I think you're putting too much on. Maybe only 1 dab on the center of the cpu and gpu. And I don't think you should be putting thermal paste on "the pins of the green colored chip", but I may be wrong...
