Hello,
I plan on applying thermal paste to my CPU today.

The existing thermal paste on my CPU is from my h100i and I got a replacement h100i GTX

To remove the thermal paste could I use "Zeiss Lens cleaning wipes" on the back it does say they contain isopropyl alcohol or should I just use a coffee filter or q tip and alcohol?

To apply the new thermal paste I plan on just putting a small dot in the middle and spreading it out with the h100 GTX, if you have any recommenedations please tell me

Thank You

I have found be very careful about even distribution. 1 corner missed = heat trouble!

Also would also consider taking a sticker, Date the application time, If you use a PC more than 1yr's time, I would recommend re-applying the paste after 1yr.

I have found the past will de-humidify over long periods of time resulting in a loss of functionality.

Hi,

For the thermal paste application method, it depends on the thickness of it.
If it's really thick, I would use a clean anti static plastic bag and rub it all over the cpu.
While if the thermal paste is more liquid, the dot or cross method is fine

Thereafter, if you overclock, monitor your temps.
In a few years, if you see your temps running hotter. Reapply thermal paste.

I use HWmonitor or coretemp for cpu temperatures

I got the artic silver 5 from Radio Shack so not sure if it is thick or of a liquid?
I use HWmonitor to monitor temperatures

Alright Thank you for that tip!

So instead of the Pea, I should use the line method?

Also just to confirm, instead of the lens cleaning wipes I should use a coffee filter and isopropyl alcohol, is it more effective then the lens cleaning wipes?
