Hi forum,

I recently built a gaming PC using Thermaltake's V71 case. This is my second gaming desktop that used V71, but it's the first one I've built myself. Everything seems to work fine except the FAN LED ON/OFF switch does not work.

The three 200mm fan's LED lights are automatically on when the PC powers up. However, when I hit the FAN LED button the lights do not turn off. At this point, this appears to be a purely cosmetic issue as it is not affecting gameplay.

I built this PC myself, so I am sure I hooked something up wrong. This is my first PC build. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions on where to look to fix the issue? I appreciate the support, oh and my specs are below. Thanks.

Thermaltake V71 case
X99 Deluxe
5960X
MSI GTX 970 4G
16GB Corsair DDR4-2133
PSU Corsair CX750
NEPTON 280

Awesome :) glad its working, I'm surprised the new controller was shipped so quickly, thermaltake doesn't waste time lol
Hi MuchResearch,

Sorry, I should have included that on the original posting. Yes they are working. FAN LOW and FAN HIGH work. I can hear the difference in the fans after hitting either switch. Every button works except the LED ON/OFF

Are they connected with the original fans? I read the led control is only compatible with the original included fans

I don't really know what to tell you then, it seems like a straightforward installation that couldn't be done wrong. I can only imagine that there is some sort of defect in the controller. Maybe peek at the controller hub to see if you can find any damage? Sorry I can't help more but I don't see why it wouldn't work properly if it is in full working order.

Okay, I contacted Thermaltake and they sent me a replacement FAN CONTROLLER. I removed and then installed the replacement FAN CONTROLLER and everything works as it should. I suspect the underlying problem was with the MOLEX power connector and/or wiring to and from the PCB.

I suspect this was the issue because the LED lights on the fan are much brighter and the fans sound as if they are running faster. Anyways, simple fix. There were only three screws that had to be removed to remove and install the new fan controller. I appreciate everyone's help.

You will have to uninstall the old/broken controller and then install the new one...?
