welcome to the team, sex monkey!
just be patient, those calculations are always a little inaccurate at the beginning of a work-unit!
@TEAM: Congrats! we're no. 80!
@EA: wow, that's a daily average, you're coming close to sjonnie's alltime high's! (you witnessed them yourself, they were about 5.5K/day)
cheers!

Hmm, Hi there fella's

I was a Seti@home cruncher for a number of years - but that started to go down. And well, winter is almost upon us and I'm looking for another way to keep everything nice and toasty.

So I'm new to this Folding thing hence a few questions (please excuse me if they've already been addressed [numerous times] - 45 pgs is a lot to go through.

I'm running the CLI version FAH504, as I assume this will run slightly more quickly than the apparantly resource-hungry GUI. Are there any good applications to use other than that (I know there was a great app called SetiBuffer that I used to use for S@H)?

Any tips and tricks you guys have come up with?

I'll be running it on a:
Athlon64 3500+
AthlonXP 2200+
AthlonTB 1400MHz
AthlonTB 1000MHz
Pentium-M 1600MHz
Pentium-III-T 1133MHz (x2)
Celeron 1700MHz
...for the time being - for team# 40051 of course  [user: RaptureDasterdHybrid]

My apologees once again, as these queries have most likely been addressed.

Thanks,
Paul

If you are looking for a good way to monitor the client while it is running as a service there are several programs. My favorite is EMIII or Electron Microscope III. I don't have a link for it handy but you can easily google it, that's how I got it. I also use FahMon as a backup monitor. You can google that too.

If you have any more questions please let us know. I have been on this thread since it had about 15 pages and have read almost all of it, but I don't expect anyone picking it up now to do so.

I hadn't even noticed. I was trying to help a guy out. In fact it looks like a guy who will definitely be beating my average soon and eventually passing me. He should be a great asset to the team.

I don't know about most, but many of us have old machines that are still running and/or a laptop for doing work on the go or when traveling. Also many people have FAH running on Machines belonging to other family members (It should be with their permission) or on machines that they have put together for freinds and family (again this should be with permission).

I should have mentioned the machines I have FAH running on with my last post.

Opteron 165 OC'd to 2.4GHz (dual core 2 instances) (my main rig)
Athlon 64 3000+ (my old machine, now my mothers)
Intel Pentium M 2.0 GHz (my Laptop)
Intel Pentium M 1.86 GHz (my Dad's Laptop)
Turion 3100+ (My Brothers laptop)
Athlon 3200+ (My sisters Desktop)
Intel Pentium M 2.0 GHz (my Girlfriends Laptop)

While I am posting up a storm I'd like to throw a shout out to some of the people who recently got to 50,000 points.

:trophy: Welcome RaPTuRe!! :trophy:

Are all your machines on the same network? If so, with that many, I'd run FahMon. The display on EMIII tends to get a little messed up (at least for me) with too many clients.

EA has a great thread here with plenty of info and links.

PM me if you need any help.

BTW Great job guys; congrats all the way around.

One day I will return  Until then, I'll donate as much as I can. I still have a few b0rgs at my previous job running, and if I acquire a laptop to find an unsecured wireless network 9there are a surprising amount in my neighborhood), I might get a few more 8)
Unless anyone else wants to do some dirt, PM me.

@Cunning

While having FAH still running at a place you used to work is one things (since you had the authority to put it there at the time, I assume) but I don't think we should go around putting FAH on peoples machines without their permission. I guess it's just an invasion of privacy/property thing, it's not like they would ever notice.

It is that too, but that isn't really the word I was looking for. I don't normally mind exploiting something as long as it doesn't cause anyone any harm. I don't like idea of anyone invading another persons privacy or property, those are concepts basic and important enough that they are addressed in our consitution. (For those of us in the US)

Thanks. My average has been slipping this week due to a rash of bad WUs last Thursday-Friday that locked up 3 of 5 of my machines. Of course 4 of them are in my basement and i didn't realize it right away. The only way to restart was to reboot? I have never had that before. My average is down again the last 2 days. I am going to have to check again tonight. I went for a solid month without having to touch anything so I know it's not the machines.

hi there im gonna start folding but i gotta noob question first. whats the difference between the grphical client and the non-graphical apart from the obvious fact that one has grpahics and the other doesnt!
cheers

Well The Graphical FOLDING starts automatically when i start my computer and i forget about it. And the NON-graphical i think you have to Start up and make fold yourself. Better to get Graphical Version. Runs a bit slower but you can Install/Enable and forget about it(as long as you set it right) Not sure about HT but for Dual core you have to paste 2 copy in each core to take advantage of both cores. Remember its folding for team #40051

Boy, tell me. I was up to over 1k on my daily average for a while, and have now slipped back to about 700-800. (shakes fist at Stanford) Oh well, what can you do?

Oh yeah! Add more systems!

So, one notebook: AMD Sempron 3100+
and one dual-core: PD805 (currently being OC'd).

Ought to get me back well above 1k a day.

I want us to be one of the Top 50 teams, and if we keep working at it, we'll get there.

Unless everyone that is running FOLDING@HOME for team #40051 over clocks their computer to its possible limit. And/Or keeps their computer on for longer periods of the day (24/7) the dream is not gonig to come true and would be impossible. because there are new teams coming up in the folding world because they are basically Server clusters running folding on every core Or dual core Computer labs with over 30+ runnnig 24/7.
