jep, I think we all are slowly closing in on the outer limits of the "auto-extend" table-space feature for this post in the forums database. be carefull how often you press submit! ;-)

i think my cousins gonna go in, not much, but every bit counts, he'll be running a 1ghz, i'm talking him through it now (IM), we'll see how it goes

Ara

yep, he's in, and he's gonna sign up another computer (of his of course), which i dont' know the specs of, i think he'll be folding under the name "bouchakjian" (family name) but he won't be on these forums

Ara

@EA:
WOW! nice 24 hour average (3000 when i checked), are you b0rging? anything for the team... i took a look at your history, your output has gone up 1000 points in the last ~3 weeks 8O keep it up

Thanks Ara. Not borging more like farming. I am a network administrator and I have a lot of computers at my disposal. I could easily have twice as many as I currently have, but I add a few here and there when I get a chance.

Lucky lucky lucky bastard. lol

dual g4 eh? you should be able to find a way to get 2 instances of FAH working (twice the work) unless you need the other processor for other work... unfortunately, i'm not the Mac expert... so it's gonna be up to you or the web.

Ara

This is hard work keeping all these machines folding. Thunderstorms suck! If the power would stop going out I could keep everything going.

why's that? you mean you have to startup the computers again or that you have to startup folding manually?

if their going out, maybe you could try changing bios settings to return to it's previous power state (on or off) when the power comes back on?

if the startups the problem, start them folding automatically

(or does it get more complicated then that?)

Ara

Well it's a little more complicated than that. I have PCs in a couple of different buildings and if the power goes off that doesn't mean the computer comes back up when the power comes back on. Then each one has to be logged in otherwise folding isn't running. So I just have to stay on top of it, but we've been getting quite a few bad storms lately so it keeps happening. No big deal just annoying.

@Action_Man - Congrats!

@chrisag - Congrats!

@fishmahn - Congrats on holding me off as long as you have :). You're still a veteran of THGC Folding so I give you some major props for that!

crappy workunits indeed, i've got a 208 pointer that's been running for more then 2 days and it's done about 50% (usually 200 pointers take 2 days to finish with me)

i must say, the normal 200 pointers i like (never personally seen any better, don't know if there are any), allows my computer to keep a 200 PPD average (2 instances (HT not dual core))

Ara

Even if you don't set the bioses to come back on when they get power back at least setup the FAH service instead of a GUI then they will start folding when windows starts instead of when some one logs in.

@Enimity: Wow you move fast. So many points per week. I wish the company I worked at unblocked those ports so I could use the extra processing power, but that's security at a telecom for you 😉 And thanks!

@DH: Congrats! You beat Fronsse to the 100K! It was a close race! Right now I'm right between you two, average-wise...
😉
@chrisag: hey, did you ever try to talk to your admin? I talked to mine and now I can fold with my work PC's. Before they opened up completly I managed to fold manually, by which I mean that the clients@work could only get work-units and not send the results back. I manually transfered them through the FW and sent them in from home... - it was funny, because I was able to tune my average at will, but it's getting tiresome after a while...
🙂

@stephan: The only problem with that is that corporation is so huge, it would be take a change in corporate policy. Even if there was a single admin! The security guys are so paranoid there that they block most websites, AIM, Gtalk (WTF?), and a ton of other things... Thus is policy though.
